Here at QAHE, we’re looking for a fabulous IT Technician to work on our Manchester site, preparing, deploying and maintaining our IT resources to make our students’ courses run seamlessly
You’ll provide first-line-response to classroom technology issues, which will involve a hands-on approach anywhere on campus.
The other main aspects of this exciting role are:
- Ensure that the Student IT experience both in and outside of the classroom environment is positive.
- Assist in classroom expansions, changes & provisions where necessary
- You’ll be aware and understand the needs of the system requirements to make everyone’s experience the best it can be
- You’ll work closely with Academics and ACE team members to support new and existing applications
- Conduct regular deployment planning exercises to mitigate or escalate any foreseeable issues
- Support delivery of projects as requested
- Ensure a professional customer facing attitude and response
- Monitor, identify, report & rectify issues/problems as appropriate.
- Work closely with all relevant stakeholder within QA, QAHE and all partner universities
- Act as first point contact for QAHE’s Centre staff and partner university colleagues.
- Working with line manager and centre-based colleagues to meet the operational IT service requirements to all QAHE centres.
- Support installation and maintenance of hardware as required.
- Analysing and identifying areas for modification within the team
About You:
This role would be a great fit if you’ve a background in hands-on technical delivery and problem-solving, can “think outside the box” (I know; horrible term!) to find solutions to problems, and we’d love you to be able to tick the following boxes, too:
- Server/Comms room management, including cable management, patching and labelling
- Understanding of IP Addressing and basic networking
- Technical setups including workstation / server builds
- Demonstrable experience in writing /maintaining technical documentation
- Demonstrable evidence of analysing and resolving technical

issues.
Ability to work to tight SLA’s - Ability to work alone in an effective manner.
- Experience of working in an environment that is subject to change.
- Able to make decisions and be responsible for them.
- Experience working within an IT Business environment / role
- Oh, and you’d definitely need to know what cable plugs into where!
