Brief overview of the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for somebody looking to kickstart their career in IT. The role involves direct technical support for external customers using remote software, the role also involves running demos for customers and testing new product launches. There is also internal end user support.
Working week:
Monday to Friday. 830-1730.

This is a highly technical role and at the end of the apprenticeship the successful graduate will be very well versed in the technical support for cutting edge Bio-metrics. There will be the opportunity to work in the various departments that support the product lines, so the role offers variety as well as first-class hands-on technical training.
Because of the variety in the role, no two days would ever be the same. But some of the activities are -
The role will require the apprentice to engage with customers either remotely or in person. The level and degree of engagement may vary across different customers. It will include but is not limited to:
- Answering customer questions via email, phone or in person.
- Performing demos remotely or at customer sites.
- Resolving technical issues raised by a customer. This may require to remotely join the customer environment.
- Setting up systems at conferences and expos while engaging with new or existing customers.
The role will include testing products to ensure they are of a high standard and the apprentice will use existing processes and measures to escalate any issues or requests while using existing tools and methods to ensure a clear audit trail.
The role would require the apprentice to gain a deeper understanding of product and technical specifications to ensure providing accurate guidance to customer
Requirements and prospects
Qualifications Required:
Only candidates with Grade C/4 and above in both English and Maths will be considered, plus a A/B or Merit/Distinction in a related IT qualification.
Desired skills:
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a natural enthusiasm for technology and be able to showcase that enthusiasm through IT hobbyist activity. This could be for instance, building custom PC's, or running virtual machines from a home based server. The successful candidate should be able to discuss openly the methods they use to achieve this hobbyist activity and be able to answer questions about how they solved any issues they may have encountered.

Training to be provided:
CORE MODULES
The apprenticeship contains the following three core key modules which seek to develop the
knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be a successful Information Communications Technician.
The final module is a Pathway module to provide specialist career track skills and knowledge depending
on which track was chosen at the outset from the 3 options available.
Computer Fundamentals & Security
Gain an understanding of the core concepts in computing including hardware, software, security and troubleshooting.
Introduction to Networking & Cloud Services
An introduction to the fundamental cloud
concepts of networking and cloud computing, including networking
modules, devices and protocols.
Communication in Support
Support in IT requires good communications skills. Develop your communications skills by exploring the best practices of support.
Future Prospects:
There is a full-time role available upon successful completion of the course.
