We have an exciting vacancy arise within our IT department to support the changing needs of our ever-growing and evolving business, which has over 200 IT users. The role will be based in our head office in Aylesford.
We are looking for a dynamic person to become the primary escalation point for IT support activities covering the service to our Head Office, Quarry and Site operations teams via Internet based VPN connectivity, as well as working on ad- hoc improvement and implementation projects. You will provide support across server, desktop, laptop and tablet platforms, application software (including MS Office), desk phones and mobiles. You will need to have a high level of technical problem-solving ability as well as interpersonal and customer care skills.
The infrastructure is a VMware virtualised platform running mainly Microsoft technologies (e.g., Server 2016, Exchange 365 etc.) on modern HP server hardware. End-user desktops and laptops are predominantly HP.
Applicants should already be involved in a service-oriented IT support function and be competent in 1st and 2nd line support across the range of MS technologies and be looking for an opportunity to further develop and demonstrate your service management and technical skills.

- Permanent full-time role.
- Monday–Friday 40-hour working week,on a rota basis to cover Business hours 7.00am to 6.00pm, with 1-hour lunch break.
- From time to time this role may be required to work ‘out of business hours’ and some weekend working may be required in order to complete tasks that cannot intrude on normal office hours. Overtime or time off in lieu will be offered.
- Occasional travel to quarry/sites will be required for which a van is available.
Main daily duties include:
- Providing support to Specialist systems (Opera 3, CIS, COINS, Causeway, CANDY, MCS, Weighsoft, Command Alkon, AutoCAD).
- Respond to and log helpdesk enquiries in a timely manner and provide fixes for our desktop / laptop hardware and software applications.
- Escalating to 3rd line support (both internally and to external suppliers) where required and managing this through to resolution.
- Assist with the provision of site setups, from design to production.
- Assist with the provision of mobile phones and associated accessories.
- Active directory account management (including starters/leavers).
- Morning Operations (Checking Backups (Veeam) and IT systems).
- Providing technical support to projects as needed.
- Server maintenance and administration (MS Windows 2012 and 2016) including updates.
- Ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems (Exchange 365, Manage Engine Service Desk Plus, Mimecast, Webroot, Websense).
- Providing support to all Network Infrastructure (SDWAN, HP Procurve Switches, Ubiquiti Wireless systems).
- Providing cover for the helpdesk, as and when required (out of shift, holidays, etc.).
- Maintain and Improve Departmental documentation.
EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS
The successful IT Support Engineer will be a team player with a natural ability to fault find Software and Hardware issues and be able to build and configure IT equipment. You must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to resolve difficult problems for remote staff in a competent and friendly manner.
- Minimum of 5 years’ practical experience in an IT support / service function role.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products including Access and SharePoint.
- Demonstrable customer service-oriented skills.
- Full Driving Licence and own car.
- Right to Work in UK documentation.
