What will you do as a IT Support Apprentice?
The role of the IT Support Technician is varied, and you will be the first line support to Barnett Waddingham IT systems infrastructure. A typical day will include:
  • Responding to IT related tickets whilst prioritizing issues
  • Provide IT Support to the local office users
  • Escalating issues to the relevant teams
  • Mobile device management including setup and distribution
  • Setup of laptop hardware, peripherals, and user troubleshooting
  • Document fixes and troubleshooting techniques and distribute this information to the IT support team to improve efficiencies
  • Participate in team meetings with all team members to discuss projects, issues, and team performance

What qualification will I study for?

Working with our training provider Baltic Apprenticeships you will study the Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship whilst working in the role. The program is well structured, with the support of a skills coach, friendly mentors, and line managers to ensure you succeed in your role and study.

Can I progress beyond the apprenticeship?

There are lots of opportunities to develop into beyond your initial apprenticeship including progression through the department or into Network Engineering or Cyber Security Level 4 Apprenticeships or transferring into a different sector of the business. We firmly encourage in the continuation of your career progression with support for further study if you so wish to do this.

What do we look for?

You will need to demonstrate a strong desire to work in an IT support role, be customer-focused with good attention to detail. You will demonstrate a positive attitude with a pro-active and organised approach with good problem-solving skills. You will need to have strong communication skills to be able to build effective working relationships with your team members and you will be keen to develop new skills. You could already have some of these skills through a part time job, work experience/volunteering or any hobbies/interests you have.

Entry requirements

Ideally, we would like to see education up to A-Level standard with grade C or higher in 2 or more subjects. You will need a minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade 4 (C) or equivalent including Maths and English
