The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) is a non-profit corporation that brings together the province's most sophisticated law enforcement resources to investigate serious and organized crime. ALERT is comprised of personnel from municipal police agencies, RCMP, and civilian staff that work together on elite teams throughout Alberta focusing on organized crime, human trafficking, auto crimes and child exploitation.
Under the direction of ALERT’s Technology and Investigative Support Director, ALERT Information Technology (IT) Services is responsible for IT Support, providing hardware and software solutions and maintenance, IT training, consultation and excellent customer service. ALERT IT further makes recommendations about future planning and development of resources. ALERT IT Services is looking to hire two (2) full-time, permanent IT Support positions (Edmonton office).
These positions report directly to the ALERT IT Team Lead and indirectly to the ALERT IT Manager and involve server/workstation/ mobile device support, evergreening, network infrastructure, and general helpdesk support activities.
The salary range for this position is $78,208 to $95,513.60 per annum.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES:
The IT Support (Edmonton) will report to and work closely with the Team Lead of ALERT IT Services to ensure the effective functioning of all ALERT IT infrastructure. Occasional in-province travel will be required in the course of regular duties.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose software and hardware problems and perform regular maintenance;
- Track, prioritize, and document requests for service;
- Installation, configuration, and repair of servers, network components, firewalls, computers, software, and related IT equipment;
- Maintain an inventory of existing equipment, and assist with evaluation and purchasing of new equipment;
- Evergreening desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and server infrastructure.
- Monitor safety and security of computer systems;
- Interact with clients and staff to ensure IT needs are being addressed, including training;
- Participate in an extended-hours support rotation;
- Familiarity with the following would be an asset but not required: Veeam, WSUS, Lansweeper, SonicWall/Fortinet, Hyper-V, HP/Dell (Servers, Desktops and laptops), Windows Server, AD, MS Exchange, UEM, SmartDeploy, PDQ, Remote Access tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
The following qualifications have been identified for this position:
- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary Information Technology program, from an accredited institution, or a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience is required.
- Current security clearance with the RCMP would be an asset.
- Broad knowledge of hardware, software, and scripting (e.g. PowerShell).
- A logical approach to problem solving.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage expectations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and diplomatically, both written and verbally.
- Ability to communicate technical details to a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to work as part of a team of employees, contribute to the team effort, as well as work as an individual.
- Explore and evaluate new and emerging information technology trends.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with clean driving record.
