This is an exciting hybrid opportunity at the University of Cambridge, MRC Biostatistics Unit located at the Biomedical Campus. The work is hands-on with multiple infrastructures, including Windows, Macintosh and Linux System, including technical projects to better our services.

The opportunity: We welcome both qualified and aspiring applicants who want to play a critical role ensuring our department's IT systems are seamlessly operating. It is also a great opportunity where you'll have the chance to take the technical lead for designing, delivering, supporting, and continuously improving our department's IT infrastructure. This includes but not limited to the management of network services hosted on virtualised VMWare platform and network storage NetApp/NAS storage systems. It also includes a presence of services using Cloud technology.
About you: You'll be supported by an induction, on-boarding programme and a collaborative work environment. You'll have access to cutting-edge technology and training opportunities and advance your career in newer technologies including Cloud Based Appliances.
You'll be key to delivering against our IT plan and lead on agreed technical projects to support our research, teaching and learning goals, as well as providing the tools necessary to support the delivery of our administrative functions.
You'll need a strong understanding of Linux based systems including the installations, maintenance and support for heterogeneous environments for server, end computing provision and mobile devices. You'll also be familiar with running Linux Servers, Windows Servers and Network services including cloud implementations and deployment.
Hands on experience with configuration management (SALT or other tools) including Server virtualising (VMware) and monitoring solutions is also required. Please reference to the further particular for more information including the full job description.
