We are seeking a dynamic IT Specialist to join our team at the YMCA of Northern Alberta. This role will be responsible for providing essential support to our IT infrastructure, ensuring that our team can deliver its services effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will have a strong background in network administration with a CCNA certification, be comfortable with PowerShell, and have experience with Azure Active Directory.
You will have the opportunity to work with senior staff to implement integration and innovations, challenged with pulling the most out of our systems. Your knowledge and skillsets will ensure that community members have access to the life-enhancing programs and services that they have come to expect from the Y.

Position Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage the company's computer systems, including software, hardware, and networks.
- Use Azure Active Directory to manage users and groups, configure permissions, and address security issues.
- Utilize PowerShell for task automation and configuration management.
- Troubleshoot network and system issues, identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions to eliminate them.
- Provide technical support and training for staff and team members, helping resolve any IT-related issues.
- Configure and manage security tools to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Implement network security policies and procedures in line with best practices.
- Implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Regularly update systems, predict performance metrics, supervise system configuration, and document any processes or repairs done.
- Stay abreast of the latest IT administration and system security developments and recommend improvements to the existing IT systems.
- Develop and maintain documentation for existing infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
What You’ll Need for This Job
- A diploma or degree in Computing Science, Information Technology, or a related field is an asset.
- CCNA certification is required.
- Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting IT infrastructure.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Experience with Azure Active Directory for user and access management.
- Understanding of network protocols, firewall functionality, and network security practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and other staff.
- Proactive, highly organized, and able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Experience working in a non-profit environment is a plus.
- ITIL certification would be an asset, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to travel on an as-needed basis to sites around Edmonton and northern Alberta.
