Job title: IT & Network Specialist

Temporary – Permanent

Hours: 5 days a week: Normally Mon-Friday, with flexibility to work Saturdays or out of hours as required.

Location: London - flexible between Leyton E10 and Rainham RM13

Job summary

We are looking for a capable and dynamic person to be responsible and accountable for the smooth running of our network and IT systems.

You will have the day-to-day responsibility for managing IT provision for the company and a real opportunity to influence the company’s responsiveness to changes and growth.

You will oversee IT provision for approximately 80 end users and play the key role in development of IT projects. This will include systems and network administration, hardware and software maintenance and to assist and support colleagues in the business, both remote and office based.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Maintaining the effective operation of the company's various IT and data systems and hardware to ensure business continuity.

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems and software applications.
  • Maintaining the operational integrity and resilience as well as effective performance and capacity management of our IT systems.
  • Execute the changes required to secure and optimize the business technology and data.
  • Reduce system downtime by proactive monitoring of systems and taking corrective and preventative measures and take ownership of tracking and remediating security vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain all local and remote hardware and software assets and their inventories across the business, including IT infrastructure components, desktops, laptops, mobile and other devices.
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line levels of technical, hardware, software and operational and systems support to all areas of the business.
  • Negotiate and administer supplier contracts and service agreements.
  • On and offboarding of users on to IT systems.
  • Monitor and test back-ups (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.).
  • Manage and develop IT staff, including, training, evaluation, guidance.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to IT staff and to end users.
  • Working with our managed services providers for Vendor, Relationship, Service, SLA Management as well as developing and updating KPI’s to measure performance of the providers and department.

Skills and Specifications

  • Degree, specializing in Information Technology, MCSE qualified or proven track record in IT over a 5-year period with similar experience.
  • A can-do attitude and a desire to be the best.
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

System Experience

  • Network admin, security, domain and server management
  • Windows, Exchange, Active Directory and Office 365
  • Microsoft SQL or other database software
  • Cloud, on prem, servers, networks, storage, backups
  • Virtualised environments/DNS/Remote Access
  • A good understanding of Cyber Security principles and best practice to ensure our IT systems are always optimally protected and also be able to work with our cyber security partners for ongoing protection.

Special Requirements

· Will be required to work evenings or weekends for emergency work or implementation of critical upgrades or enhancements out of hours to avoid disruption to Operations.

Salary: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
