In this job, the IT Technology Business Management Senior Specialist will work in partnership with various teams within the IT Technology, Data, and Strategic Services organization, and across all departments within the broader IT organization, supporting the delivery of new business capabilities/technologies and continuous improvement of IT’s processes. This position plays an important role in contributing to key workstreams including IT Investment Planning Prioritization, Governance and Risk Management, IT Business Strategy Development, and IT Regulatory Planning. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the assessment and governance activities for the pipeline of multimillion dollar information technology investment plans that are critical to achieving Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) strategic objectives related to clean energy, wildfire mitigation, operational excellence, and grid modernization. Facilitating forums to review IT investment demand and ensure investment decisions align with organizational goals, objectives and priorities.
- Tracking, analyzing, and interpreting data related to IT’s investment plans, developing alternative proposals, presenting findings and recommendations, and consulting with department, client organization, senior IT leaders, and/or corporate decision makers in support of optimal allocation of IT spend. Implementing results of decisions based extensive data analysis.
- Supporting the development and implementation of the business strategy within the Information Technology operating unit, as well as long term business and operating plans which support the achievement of the strategy.
- Supporting the regulatory process for the Information Technology operating unit, including IT’s General Rate Case (GRC) and other key regulatory activities.

- Investment Planning Governance: Facilitates and manages IT governance bodies chartered with effectively implementing the IT operating model and investment planning processes. Produces meeting agendas and minutes; managing content across multiple departments, users, and personnel levels; tracking desired outcomes and deliverables; and a wide variety of related communication tasks.
- IT Integrated Planning Support: Support the IT Strategy Formulation and Investment Planning processes and the development and implementation of the IT Business Strategy, IT Operating Plans, and supporting roadmaps, financial plans and resource plans.
- IT Process Management & Continuous Improvement: Analyze IT systems and department processes to integrate best practices, metrics, and dashboards into our strategic, annual planning and governance functions. Includes producing documentation, process flows, and appropriate redesign when necessary to ensure agility, productivity, quality, and that cost targets are consistently achieved.
- Stakeholder Management: Maintains regular contact with other IT departments, business partners, and corporate strategic, financial, and governance teams to ensure the effective integration and visibility to project budgets, change control impacts, and governance requirements and status.
- Business Management Insight: Provide IT senior management with information on the financial and operational impacts of existing and proposed strategies, business plans, and governance decisions. Includes development and presentation of meeting materials and presentations.
The essentials
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in business, information technology
The preferred
- Seven or more years of experience in an analytical position with proficiency using MS Excel to mine and compile data, develop reports, presentations, and analyses and organizing data within multiple assignments, tasks, and priorities
- Demonstrated experience in effectively facilitating meetings where collaboration across multiple disciplines is required. Includes setting agenda, knowledge of technical communication/ collaboration tools, recording and publishing minutes, and following up on action items.
- Demonstrated experience operating governance-type boards or teams
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including vlookups, pivot tables and graphs
- Experience managing customer/client relationships
- Must have strong project management, organization, time management and prioritization skills
- Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives, including six sigma yellow belt certification
You should know
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage
