Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of moderate complexity and the incumbent performs them using established instructions.
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of moderate complexity and the incumbent performs them using established instructions.
Responsibilities:
1. The ability to research and write web content
2. Edit web content for clarity and accuracy
3. Crop, edit, and resize images using Photoshop or other image programs
4. Review Google Analytics reports and provide a basic interpretation of findings
5. Create web pages and layout elements using McGill's Squarespace-like site-building tool (no -HTML/CSS/programming necessary; training provided)
Typical Functions:
(i) Greets clients and answers specific inquiries with a positive attitude. This includes detailed information regarding software and equipment.
(ii) Collects and enters data into established inventory databases.
(iii) Assists with computer/server/office equipment maintenance including troubleshooting, setup and verification of computer equipment.
(iv) Maintains websites with regular updates of content.
(v) Distributes and tracks computer equipment. A log to track these items may be required.
(vi) Maintains lab work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
(vii) Opens and secures the area daily.
(viii) The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent. For example, incumbents may be asked to perform some elements of IT Assistant level “A” tasks in addition to the above listed functions.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Strong command of written and spoken English.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to contextualize and execute tasks within broader project goals.
Experience related to websites or graphics is an asset.
Understanding web usability or user-focused design principles would be an asset.
Ability to work in a PC environment using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
