Digital Network Group (DNG) is a mission driven for-profit organization, based in the Washington, DC area. The firm is preparing for significant growth and seeking IT apprentices to work on important IT projects.
Background & Program Description
The apprentice program is seeking ambitious talent who wish to be groomed through actual client/site work opportunities. As an entry level apprentice, you will begin your career providing help desk support. The program enable development through ongoing training that is self-paced, in a systematic fashion enabling further professional growth. This will further speed up growth allowing other opportunities based on performance. The Information Technology Apprentice is responsible for performing various tasks related to IT support and system maintenance. They will utilize their technical skills to identify and execute the best approaches for completing required tasks. The Apprentice may provide recommendations to IT staff or end users as needed. The primary tool for job performance will be a personal computer, and occasionally, hand tools may be necessary for hardware repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Task Execution: Identify and determine the most effective methods for performing required tasks, whether it involves IT support, system configuration, data transfer, software installation, hardware repairs, or other related activities. You will be supported to execute these tasks.
2. Recommendations: Provide suggestions or recommendations to fellow IT staff or end users to enhance operational efficiency or resolve technical issues.
3. Work Planning: Assist in developing work plans and schedules for tasks such as replacing end-user devices (desktops and laptops) with new equipment.
4. System Configuration: Set up and configure systems to meet operational requirements, ensuring proper functionality and compatibility.
5. Data Transfer and Software Installation: Transfer data from old equipment to new devices and install necessary software to ensure seamless workflow.
6. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of equipment, updating inventory systems to reflect changes in hardware and software.
Requirements
· Must be able to commute to office daily and preferably resident of MD.
2-3yrs of experience or college education preferred, Minimum high school diploma required.
· Strong demonstrated technical aptitude and problem-solving skills to effectively perform IT-related tasks.
· Proficiency in using personal computers for daily job performance, including software installation and data transfer.
· Basic knowledge of hardware repairs and familiarity with hand tools for occasional hardware maintenance.
· Excellent communication skills to collaborate with IT staff and provide recommendations to end users.
· Ability to work independently and contribute to work planning and scheduling processes.
