Glasgow Caledonian University’s IT department is a central professional service department that provides IT services to GCU campuses in Glasgow and London. The IT department supports the University by delivering technology-based services for research, teaching and learning, to enable on and off-campus learning and engagement.
We are currently seeking an IT Operations Manager who will be responsible for providing direct line management of a team of professionals, while leading activities such as financial processing, budget management and recruitment. Working closely with the Director of IT and Heads of Service, the IT Operations Manager will take responsibility for developing and evolving administrative procedures to ensure operational services are delivered in an efficient, responsive and professional manner.
The role holder will have experience of promoting and providing excellence in areas of administration with the provision of support services, including the setting of service standards and monitoring of performance within an administrative team. The candidate should also have extensive people management experience including prioritisation of work and ensuring delivery to deadlines; and the ability to demonstrate effective negotiation skills, with experience of advising on recruitment issues at a senior level.
The successful candidate should be educated to degree level and/or equivalent relevant experience and have the ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive issues, using tact and discretion.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have knowledge of HE sector and department specific processes and the ability to work effectively and accurately whilst under pressure in a business-critical environment.
