Job description
We are looking for a part-time IT Technician with interest in the VFX industry. The candidate should love computers and be Windows savvy. We want someone who has attention to detail and takes satisfaction from problem solving.
1 to 3 days per week in our Dalston studio. Our studio is around 15 people and is a vibrant and creative workplace. Non-standard hours are an option open to discussion.
Overview of responsibilities:
- Managing the Server (ubuntu) and Windows network.
- Managing the data storage and archiving/backups of projects
- Troubleshooting IT issues in the studio.
- Maintaining the workstations - Setting up new PC's and updating/installing software.
- Maintaining and managing the renderfarm which uses ‘Thinkbox deadline’
- Managing software licences and RLM licence servers.
- Managing external cloud rendering services like Conductor
- Helping the artists with 3rd party plugins, pipeline issues and where possible looking to improve the pipeline and workflow.
- Installing Additional hardware in PC’s - this is usually just adding a harddrive or swapping RAM - relatively standard PC maintenance.
- There will be the option of helping to troubleshoot technical issues within the VFX pipeline, if writing custom tools and scripts is of interest.
