Join the GSK’s IT Service Management Degree Apprentice Programme – UK, 2023: Help us get ahead of disease together
A GSK apprenticeship gives you the chance to earn while you learn. This IT Service Management Degree apprenticeship lasts up to 4 years.
We are looking for motivated individuals with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn, who are excited to develop practical and problems solving skills. No prior experience is required as you will be given full training.

On our 4-year programme you’ll receive tailored on-the-job training from industry experts from day one combined with early responsibility to help you to develop and progress.

If you are offered a role; you will have a buddy or a mentor who will help you to prepare for joining GSK and will be there to offer support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship.
Education required:
- 96 UCAS Tariff points this is equivalent to:
- 3 A levels at grade CCC with at least one grade coming from a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) subject
- BTEC National Diploma MMM (3 Merits)
- Access to HE Qualification

All appropriate and equivalent, UK and international, Level 3 qualifications will be considered
- In addition, applicants will need to have 5 GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Salary: A starting salary of £17,500 per Annum rising to £22,100 after one year
Duration: 4 years

- A desire to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to ask exploratory questions to understand what’s required of you
- Problem solving abilities
Other requirements:
- If offered a position the candidate must be willing to enroll, and meet entry requirements, as stipulated for the BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions at Anglia Ruskin University
- Must be able to commute daily to the Stevenage site

Ahead together with tailored training and career development
Based in Stevenage, you will learn how to build/install/configure and troubleshoot problems related to computer hardware and laboratory systems in a Pharma R&D (Research & Development) environment.
As an apprentice in R&D Digital & Tech providing IT Service Management support, you will be part of a dedicated team supporting scientists globally as well as interacting with external vendors and key stakeholders. Managing and prioritizing large volume of requests on a regular basis as well as constantly seeking opportunities to optimize support procedures for globally used applications. You will be involved in Cloud Migration Projects as well as implementation of new IT capabilities that support GSK’s Drug Discovery. Occasional travelling between local and global sites may be required.
What will you do?
- Work with a diverse range of internal customers, peers, external vendors and globally located colleagues.
- Hold Strategic Partners responsible and remove blockers to ensure GSK Drug Discovery portfolio of applications remain available to end users.
- Support Migration to the Cloud (Google or Microsoft Azure) of GSK Drug Discovery portfolio of applications.
- Ensure Risks and Vulnerabilities identified in GSK Drug Discovery portfolio of applications are managed and remediated in a timely fashion.
- Undertake responsibility to transition into support and maintenance new IT capabilities delivered by R&D Digital and Tech.
- Involve in local and global cultural events driving a diverse, inclusive, and fun environment within R&D Digital and Tech Established Products & Support team.
- Obtain insight into the GSK molecule to market process used by many multi-national Pharmaceutical Companies.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to manage & prioritize a backlog of requirements to maintain GSK Drug Discovery portfolio of applications.
