Job Description:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Society’s Solution Architecture function. We are looking for a Security Architect to work together with business and technology leaders to plan, design and deliver our Project Portfolio. As part of the Solutions Architecture team, you will provide governance and technical leadership to ensure the projects are delivered in line with our Principles, Patterns and Strategy.
You will also be responsible for developing and delivering our technology roadmap and to gain commitment for architecture initiatives. Working closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to plan, test and govern project implementations as prioritised by the Business.
This is an excellent opportunity to become a key member of an Architecture team helping to shape the future of Skipton Building Society via the design and implementation of a variety of large scale and complex projects across Data, Application, Technology and Security domains.
What you will be doing
Your main responsibilities will include:
Creating, maintaining, and developing designs and patterns to be used for our systems and products.- Research and specification of security controls and the identification of solutions to support our technology and business strategy.
- Internal consultancy across teams and stakeholders, providing specialist advice and recommendations aligned to business objectives.
- Identification and communication across the Society with key stakeholders and interested parties.
- Guide and instruct across security-related technologies, incorporating risk assessment with proposed changes and working practices.
- Educate and influence colleagues on the benefits of security and ensure compliance with security principles.
- Peer review and feedback on design documentation and other architectural and security artefacts.
What you will bring
You will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of security concepts and their technical application. Effectively translating and accurately communicating security and risk implications to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Stakeholder management is key to the role, ensuring that expectations are met and that you are flexible to the situation and able to build consensus.
Working alongside these business and technology stakeholders you will be able to understand the security implications of business change. Interpreting and applying your understanding of policy and process, business architecture and legal and external impacts to assist in the development of solutions and controls. You will also proactively monitor emerging technology and threats, incorporating these into the approach.
You will be confident in designing and reviewing system architectures through the application of patterns and principles. In addition to this, you will be confident in enabling and informing risk-based decisions. Working with relevant parties to advise and guide on risk impacts and where this sit within tolerance. This will be done with the use of different methodologies applied in a consistent manner and focused on the proportion of the risk.
Another key skill required is the technical knowledge of the Microsoft Azure platform. You will be able to evidence a deep understanding of the platform and supporting technologies, being comfortable with designing solutions and advising on security policies within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
