IT Project Manager
The Role
Hutchison Ports (UK) – Port of Felixstowe is the largest deep-water Port in the UK and to support our continued development and growth we are looking to recruit an IT Project Manager for the ISD team.
Reporting to the IT Change and Business Systems Manager and being a member of the ISD Team, in this role you will have functional responsibility for the co-ordination of all IT Projects and software development activities across HPUK, always adhering to policies and procedures relating to IT and Health and Safety. You will be accountable for quality, budget, and timeliness of all ISD change programmes and for managing the many and often competing prioritises of the team and the business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
Key Requirements
- Ensuring that realistic project, quality, change control and risk management processes are maintained, taking full responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects.
- To determine impacts and risk to pipeline delivery with full stakeholder engagement, perform wider portfolio and project analysis.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained through quality assurance activities when leading critical project governance activities, including project meetings, progressing projects through life cycle transitions.
- Support the project and portfolio reporting process, providing quality assurance and analysis on the reports to ensure and maintain a single source of truth, flagging areas of concern and inconsistency.

- Aggregation of both business and system requirements including the orchestration of IT Tenders to enable utilisation of third-party resources or capabilities to compliment software development.
- Responsible for effective communication of issues risks, project status and budgetary information to key stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Development of an appropriate PMO tools, framework, and governance to support the overall IT Change governance suited to the maturity of the organisation and its goals.
- When required provide project/programme planning support to Project Managers within the wider portfolio.
- Peer review within the stage gate review process, quality assuring the deliverables before each gate, coaching, and supporting Project Managers to ensure objectives are achieved, and flagging areas of concern.
- Facilitates the capture of business value measurements for IT initiatives and how new technical capabilities will be delivered to the business, including all activities that the business needs to do to prepare for new technologies.
Who are we looking for?
Suitable applicants should meet the following criteria:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience (8 – 10 Years) of working in an IT Project Management position focused on delivery of change and Project Management Office supporting a multi-disciplinary team.
- Extensive project and project office management experience.
- A demonstrable understanding of IT infrastructure, networking systems and information management systems including Microsoft 365 and SharePoint plus Cloud migration technologies.
- Experience in the orchestration of 3rd party tender and evaluation.
- Infrastructure domain knowledge – Transition and Transformation Projects.
- Ability to analyse and assess risk thoroughly understanding cause and effect systems.
- First-hand expertise with MS Project, MS Excel and familiarity with other Project Management tools.
- Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Experience of working with software developers to deliver internal /external application changes.
Desirable:
- Prince II practitioner.
- ITIL qualification.
- Microsoft Cloud framework including Sharepoint and Infopath.
- Ability to produce and/or present clear written material suitable for consumption by HPUK Executive, Senior Management, and Global Hutchison Ports IT Teams.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
