An exciting opportunity within ABP UK's IT team has arisen. The role of Project Manager is now being advertised. This position will provide a key link between the business and IT for change implementation, ensuring effective communication and ensuring ABP UK processes are followed.

Reporting to the Business Relationship Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for the management of projects and gathering of requirements for initiatives. The Project Manager will be an ambassador for IT team and work with the wider ABP UK team to drive change and improve business functions, business operations and business processes through effective analysis and subsequent delivery. This position will lead the planning and/or implementation of assigned projects within the agreed portfolio.

The Project Manager will sit within the Project Management Office and be responsible for recording actions and decisions. The role will deliver business solutions and requires in line with business demands through continuous improvement. This position will identify and evaluate options for improving the business, leading the change and lead the transformation required to reach overall business and IT strategy.

  • Focus on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks and resource requirements.
  • Use defined methods to monitor project or area progress and provide corrective actions if necessary.
  • Assemble the project teams, ensuring resource is agreed, booked and coordinated with relevant line managers
  • Follow a defined, agreed upon project management methodology to provide an analytical and leadership resource to deliver projects within the agreed portfolio, including budget and resource management.
  • Working with various virtual implementation teams, both formal and informal, to ensure successful delivery and roll out at multiple UK sites. This may include production of training materials, standard operating procedures and data migration documents.
  • Proactively identify further opportunities within the project management framework for improvement
  • Working with business representatives (Process Owners) and IT teams to understand and deliver business requirements
  • Define, document and agree processes that meet the agreed business goals and translate into operational processes within the relevant business systems Working as part of the IT team to integrate and align current and future business system projects with the agreed strategy
  • Assisting in the resolution of business issues through the effective use of technology
  • Managing and liaising with external suppliers and contractors as appropriate
  • Work in a structured way using the agreed change methodologies for Project Management and produce change deliverables / documentation in a timely manner.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a background of Project Management within a large and complex infrastructure
  • Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of project management (Prince2) phases, techniques and tools is essential.
  • Strong and tested project management skills, including sponsor and risk management is essential.
  • An understanding of the business and the business's needs is essential.
  • Ability to provide realistic expectations, establish specific customer satisfaction standards and actively monitor client satisfaction is essential.
  • Knowledge of the current project management methodology and tools is preferable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including communicating with technical and non-technical clients and staff at all organisational levels with a customer orientated approach is essential.
  • Team player with ability to be self-sufficient, using a collaborative approach to solve problems is essential
  • Ability to work in a structured environment to deliver agreed objectives and business goals set out by the business is essential
  • Ability to manage people involved in the project whether internal or external suppliers is essential
  • Strong planning and organisational skills are essential.
  • Adaptability/to be flexible to changing project and business demands is essential.
  • Able to communicate at all levels with an excellent customer facing manner
  • Travel to other locations within the business to deliver and support projects
  • Educated to degree level within an IT related discipline is preferable
