The purpose of this position is to provide strategic oversight of Save the Children Canada’s IT function. This position will lead the development and implementation of sub-strategies to the support the organization’s overarching strategy and will work to ensure that staff have the tools, technologies, and support they need to succeed. While our offices are located in Toronto, this role will join, and support, a team with staff located across the country.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Develop and lead IT sub-strategies to support the SCC’s organizational health strategic horizon, including planning for supporting existing technology solutions, recommending areas of future growth, and developing multi-year roadmaps
- Provide oversight and guidance with respect to the organization’s IT infrastructure, existing/planned technology solutions, and the underlying architecture, to ensure they meet client requirements and contribute to operational effectiveness
- Evaluate the usefulness and applicability of new and emerging IM/IT processes, solutions, and best practices (e.g., collaboration tools, productivity tools, hybrid meeting technologies, telecommunication tools, etc.
- Clearly communicate IT policies and procedures with staff
- Develop, implement, and update existing IT policies and procedures (e.g. life cycle management of information, electronic documents and records management, data protection, cybersecurity, architecture, employee orientation and departures, security, etc. ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations).
- Manage the organization’s end-user IT knowledgebase, ensuring staff have access to documentation to support their usage of organizational software and technologies
- Manage the development, execution and maintenance of enterprise-wide Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
- Manage the development, execution and maintenance of a cybersecurity plan based on best-practices and current research
- Manage vendor/consultant relationships including liaising, negotiating, contracting and administering contracts and service agreements
- Provide guidance and support to other departments with respect to their IT needs (e.g. evaluation of technology solutions, use of existing technologies to improve efficiency, etc)
- Maintain relationships with Save the Children International IT teams and/or working groups
- Ensure a high level of quality for support services provided to internal clients by both IT staff by developing and tracking appropriate KPIs
- Directly line manage the IT Analyst.
- Oversee team workflow, helping to reprioritize or troubleshoot when necessary.
- Set clear expectations and objectives, and provide coaching and feedback on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications & Competencies (include but are not limited to):
- Completion of University Degree or College Diploma in Information Technology or a related field
- 5-7 years of direct experience.
- 3-5 years of supervisory/managerial experience.
- Relationship management skills including the ability to listen, build rapport and manage client expectations (often across different geographies).
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including resources, services, and management.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Office, SharePoint Online, and Teams
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, including Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server
- Understanding of cybersecurity (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, threat analysis)
- Understanding of network architecture, equipment, and best practices
- Experience in vendor and contract management
- Expertise in project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Salary: $91,555 - $108,135
