Job description
Lancaster University is looking to recruit an IT Engineer to work within our TIG (Technical Infrastructure Group) to enhance our support to customers. Acting as the escalation gateway to TIG for our partners and customers you will triage, diagnose and resolve IT infrastructure issues at a 2nd line technical support level. You’ll also be helping 3rd line teams to develop and improve process and documentation.
The TIG teams work with all the University IT infrastructure including identity, authentication, virtual infrastructure, server and client operating systems, cloud services, applications, IT security and fixed and wireless networking technologies. The role is a new one with opportunities to work across all our services and learn in the process.
You will be working in all areas of infrastructure and gaining experience across our service portfolio which will expand your knowledge and experience but also allow you to influence new developments via involvement in testing and process development of new services.
You will be a great communicator and team worker with experience across many computer technologies and ideally a background in a technical support role within the education sector.
