Job description
IT GRADUATE (CYBER SECURITY)
Location: Leeds
Great rewards + benefits + early careers pathways
There are many alternative career pathways within a major international law firm like Addleshaw Goddard. You don't need to be a lawyer to be a leader in this supportive and inclusive professional environment. Just be yourself. And start by being a totally unique IT Graduate (Cyber Security).
ABOUT ADDLESHAW GODDARD
As a premium law firm working for many thousands of leading organisations in over 100 countries, we don't deal in typical problems, typical solutions or typical careers. Our business is about finding the smartest route to the biggest impact, for our clients, our colleagues and the communities we serve. That means bringing great minds together and helping individuals to be the best they can be.
The many awards, nominations and top rankings we are proud to have received in recent years include accolades for training, peer support, innovation, gender equality, culture and diversity.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The IT teams at Addleshaw Goddard are located across our London, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh offices but they support the entire global business. These teams all work closely together to find innovative solutions and provide the best service possible. The Cyber Security and Information Security teams are instrumental in ensuring our confidential and commercially sensitive data are secure and not at risk of data breaches or cyber-attacks.
Our two-year IT Graduate (Cyber Security) programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience to become a Cyber Security or Information Security specialist in a large organisation. Based at our Leeds office, you will gain hands on experience in both our Information Security and Cyber Security teams during seat rotations – allowing you to then specialise in either of these fields for the final year. You will build knowledge in the following areas: security policies and procedures, risk assessments, security systems, network activity and security incidents, contributing your own ideas to help shape and deliver our IT strategy.
Upon completion of the scheme, you'll have the opportunity to continue building your career with us in either Cyber Security or Information Security (subject to vacancies).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
There is no such thing as a ‘typical' Addleshaw Goddard candidate. As a firm, we have always been shaped by different ways of looking at the world. We know our success depends on giving opportunities to people from the widest range of backgrounds, locations and perspectives.
Of course, there are some attributes we would like you to bring to this role (listed below). However, your personality and individuality matter just as much – we want you to be yourself and we will do our best to build your skillset.
A desire to develop and progress within IT cyber security or information security, ideally but not necessarily with skills, previous experience or knowledge within this field.
Ability to get on well with a broad range of people and stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to use different approaches depending on the audience and the context.
Project management skills, with the ability to identify and resolve problems as they arise.
High level of attention to detail with significant emphasis on quality of work.
Ability to be resilient and successfully manage multiple competing workstreams.
Strong organisational and analytical skills.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
Minimum 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade C or above.
2:1 degree in an IT or Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT
With Addleshaw Goddard, you can expect a supportive team culture, a flexible, friendly and state-of-the-art working environment, and an attractive salary and benefits package.
For the role of IT Graduate (Cyber Security), we will reward you with a starting salary of £24,000 a year, which will increase to £26,000 in your second year on the scheme.
Core benefits include Life Assurance, Income Protection, Pension and Bonus schemes, with additional Health & Wellbeing benefits and services, plus many voluntary Lifestyle benefits, ranging from a cycle to work scheme, gym allowance and Give As You Earn scheme to season ticket travel loans and railcards.
Our early careers pathways are based on delivering the right training and development opportunities for you as an individual. Our dedicated early careers team is on hand with advice and assistance.
We are an equal opportunity employer and we do not discriminate on the basis of a person's sex, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, background or any other protected characteristic. We are committed to having a diverse team and actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and communities.
To do this effectively, we'd like to hear from you as soon as possible if there are things we can do to support you through the application or inter
