IT Broadcast Engineer
Our client, a large international Broadcast and Media company, are seeking an IT Broadcast Engineer to join their team. This role would be on a contract basis (inside IR35)working from their office in London and offers a competitive day rate on a contract running until April 2024. The Broadcast Support Engineer will be working across the Broadcast and Media projects portfolio, providing technical knowledge and expertise to help ensure project goals are met and customer expectations are exceeded.
The IT Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Ownership of project deliverables working aside other team members to deliver projects. Providing technical problem solving to translate opportunities into a detailed technical offering, and proposals.
- Acting as authority on video and audio coding and transcoding systems and technologies, including live streaming.
- Carrying out detailed design and implementation as the need arises for solution delivery.
- Ensuring technical queries are resolved promptly so project delivery remains on time, on budget, and delivers fit for purpose solutions.
- Identifying areas for improvement in existing solutions and contribute to new solution strategy.
- Plan, agree and implement changes (following change control processes).
- Focus on customer service and solution quality.
- Deliver training sessions and ensure documentation provided to operations and support teams on new solutions as necessary.
- Act as point of 3rd line support escalation for operational support team.
We would welcome applicants with the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrable project delivery and support expertise (including at least some proven 3rd line experience) in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
- Experience in a Media Management operational setting highly desirable.
- Basic experience of Windows/Linux scripting and script debugging.
- Experience in XML, API(REST&SOAP), Python, Ruby, and SQL.
- Demonstrable experience in investigation and troubleshooting; fixing issues using one of the following Linux distributions: SuSe, Red Hat Enterprise, Centos.
- Understanding of IP networking and common protocols such as FTP.
- Experience of handling 3rd party software vendors with regard to ensuring maximum support efficiency.
- Experience with building, configuring, and deploying video trans-coders. Eg: Telestream Vantage and FFMPEG
- Good knowledge of broadcast video formats, protocols, and encoding standards alongside IPTV and OTT.
