Job Description
Head of IT Audit
Permanent
We’re Aegon. We’re a company of around 2,000 innovators and thinkers who put our energy into helping customers. You can see this in our culture, where we ask everyone to be brave, raise their game, deliver first time, help others, and act in everyone’s best interests.
We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments.
The role:
As Head of IT Audit, you will be responsible for interfacing with the UK CTO and developing and overseeing the delivery of IT Audit assurance in the UK. This role is a key part of the UK and Global IT Internal Audit leadership teams. With a new UK Chief Auditor on board, we are reshaping the functional strategy which provides you with a unique opportunity to help shape this and audit practices globally. You will also be managing your own high performing team and will support them with their development and progression.

Working with stakeholders at all levels both in the UK and globally you will take responsibility for leading and maintaining relationships with internal colleagues and external professional groups and regulators.
Our ideal candidate will be comfortable providing robust feedback to varying levels of stakeholders, with a curiosity and flexibility to constantly strengthen our working relationships, strategy, and delivery. We’re looking for someone with the proven drive and focus to aid the business to face off to their plans, with the ability to influence positive change and engagement with different business areas.
Our candidate needs to be open to ongoing self-development, able to adapt to innovative approaches and keen to keep technologically aware of emerging new technologies and their use in the business.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
  • Strong track record of working in a similar level role within a large organisation (ideally financial services), with ability to focus on regulatory and specific IT risk insight.
  • Proven experience advising, supporting, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of IT, particularly digital cloud-based technologies, IT security, operational resilience, and emerging technology application in business.
  • Proven management skills to lead and develop IT Audit team members.
It’d also be great – but not essential - if you have:
  • Strong track record of supporting audit assurance on full end to end change projects of all sizes.
  • A real interest in emerging technologies and keeping abreast of changes / innovations / changes in how to deliver IT audit services including use of Data Analytics and Agile auditing practices.
What’s in it for you?
  • A competitive salary from £80,400 – £120,600, depending on the experience you can bring.
  • A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%.
  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance.
  • 34 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time).
We know our staff have busy lives and commitments outside work, so we work flexibly where possible and have a hybrid approach to office working (typically 2 days in the office per week, 3 from home).
We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our staff live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant, and online GP appointments.
This is a big job. It’s a challenging job and it’s crucial to our future success. If you’re up for the challenge, hit the “Apply” button.
Closing date: Sunday 9th July 2023.
The legal bits
We’ll need you to confirm you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing satisfactory references.
A high-level competence requirement applies to individuals engaged in the regulated activity in all UK authorised firms. This role is involved in activities covered by FCA Training and Competence Sourcebook including the need to attain qualifications within agreed timescale as a condition of employment. This requirement forms part of fit and proper assessment for Senior Management and Certification regime certification.
