[PURPOSE OF THE JOB]
Assist in providing general IT support to all European users.
- Support H/Q IT teams as they develop, test, and deploy solutions.
- To develop and maintenance the information system.
MAIN JOB RESPONSBILITIES:
- Manage and address all local IT ‘ticket’ requests made via the ITSM.
- End user support for all incumbent IT solutions.
- Update/support in-house ‘COMPASS’ and ‘BI’ system for European users
- Implement changes depending on customer requirements (coming through users) or internal changes (from HQ or EHQ or EU offices)
- Support users on IT issues (including non-COMPASS ones)

WORK SKILLS, GENERAL AND SPECIALIST JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- IT skills (programming and testing, general PC and hardware) – academic and vocational
- Shipping industry applications/knowledge
- EDI processes knowledge
GENERAL SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Customer care: deliver quick, efficient and polite support to all users, and develop new functions as quickly as possible when asked, but balancing new requests with previously received ones; also see projects through to completion even if request changes during implementation
- Teamwork: try to work within an integrated IT department, and treat all the IT staff in an equal and polite manner
- Communications: talk freely to users, discuss problems and assist them in their work, always providing as helpful a service as possible
- Decision-Making: ability to make quick decisions on user requirements and problems, and act on that; also to prioritise requests in order of importance
- Attitude: try to always maintain a polite and helpful approach to dealing with the users, despite the demands placed on IT (sometimes unreasonable)
