Job description
Coactive makes it easy to search, filter, and analyze visual content. Increasingly image and video data captures the content we watch, the products we buy, and the work we do, and already represents 80% of internet traffic. But rather than being an asset, visual content is often a tax or even a liability because it is so hard to work with and understand. Coactive solves this by bringing structure to unstructured data. Rather than spending months (or years) building complex infrastructure, data teams can unlock the value of their visual data in minutes to power use cases such as content understanding and moderation, search, and analytics.
Coactive was founded by experts who shaped the fields of high-performance deep learning and data-centric AI. We have the scars from building and working with the first generation of modern machine learning systems at Google, Meta (formerly Facebook), Pinterest, eBay, Lyft, and other leading organizations. Through our decades of experience, we have developed a playbook to democratize the toughest parts of machine learning systems; no PhD required.
Coactive has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, experienced IT Administrator or IT Operations professional. This would be an individual seeking the challenge of working with a wide range of technologies, wearing multiple hats, and helping build out the IT discipline in a small but fast growing tech startup. You will be Coactive's first full-time IT employee, with an opportunity to help the company scale both its people and technology. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our technology infrastructure and providing exceptional support to our employees. As such, you will have a great influence on the technology we ultimately adopt. This is a great opportunity for a skilled practitioner to broaden their responsibilities and take the next step in their career.
In this role, we'll challenge you to use your IT experience to build and support a technology ecosystem that provides our small, but growing, team a friction-free technology productivity environment, secure and protect our systems and data, and support reliable SaaS service to our growing enterprise customer base. This position is ideal for anyone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and working across many different facets of IT. At one moment you might be helping an engineer with a password reset or VPN issue and, in the next moment, leading a project to assess our security controls for SOC 2, Type 2 certification, and then moving on to help standardize and harden our AWS configurations.
Because of the breadth of IT-related work involved in bringing to market and operating a SaaS-based AI/ML solution for images and video, there is a tremendous opportunity for learning and growth with this position. It is not critical that you are an expert in every aspect of this IT role, but it is important that you have a learning- and growth- mindset and are willing to dig in and build competencies in new technologies and domains. It will also be important that you can effectively work with Coactive leadership to identify and thoughtfully leverage 3rd party providers to supplement your work in areas that require additional expertise and scale.
Our team is small, with each member having an outsized impact on our culture and our ability to execute. If you possess an entrepreneurial spirit, a can-do attitude, willingness to try new things, and strong emotional intelligence, you will fit right in with our team.

- Evaluate and deploy new solutions; replace solutions that are not performing

- Ensure we have in place critical Security capabilities across the NIST framework including, asset management, data protection and encryption standards, IAM, firewall and endpoint security, vulnerability scanning and management, penetration testing, security monitoring and response planning
- Lead projects to attain/maintain SOC 2 Type II certification, comply with GDPR, CCPA and other regulatory requirements
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system updates and patches to ensure data integrity and system reliability
