Job description
The Role
Pancreatic cancer is such a devasting disease that those who come into contact with it are left with a significant imprint that often compels them to want to make a difference and support our fight to address the inequities and injustice around diagnosis, treatment, and survival rates. Those with lived experience or with a passion to join us in our fight, often choose to support us in different ways, some through donations and raising money but for others giving their time, energy, and commitment in a different way – by volunteering and/or being involved in our organisational approach. Making sure that we are harnessing those energies effectively and demonstrating the impact of doing that is vital as well as creating a positive experience for everyone who engages with us, actively supports our efforts, and contributes to our way of thinking.
In developing our plan that elevates our volunteering service offering and creates a better platform for us to ensure that we incorporate voices of lived experience, we have created this new role which brings together several key areas of engagement for our organisation and in relation to this disease work in close harmony with each other.
Bringing Involvement and Volunteering together creates synergy for us, but we recognise that it is very different in other organisations. We are in the process of reviewing both of these areas, so this is an excellent time to join us and be instrumental in shaping what we do in the future.
About You
- We are looking for someone who can drive and influence change and implement processes in a way that creates buy-in, engagement, and commitment.
- Have experience in developing a positive culture of volunteer involvement, innovation, and continuous improvement as well as experience of shaping volunteering within third or public-sector organisations.
- Have an understanding of the world of Involvement and Participation
- Are resilient and able to tackle challenges in a creative and dynamic way.
- Have great collaboration and facilitation skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and projects. You can also comfortably demonstrate experience of working across teams and have the ability to forge productive collaborative relationships, foster engagement and commitment from internal stakeholders and develop processes and plans with an end-user lens.
- Able to inspire those that you are working alongside confidently and be solution and service focussed on the way that you partner with them.
- Be passionate about making a difference for volunteers and those affected by Pancreatic Cancer and helping them to get the best out of the way they engage with us.
