About the Roles:
Invigilator Role
Invigilators assist with the management of examinations and maintain discipline in examinations. You would be assisting with setting up and supervising of examinations and working as part of a team to oversee the day-to-day operation of examination venues.
Scribe Role
A Scribe writes down a student's dictated answers to questions in an examination. Scribes work on a casual basis mainly during January, April, May, June, and August, but also on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year.
About You:
Invigilator Role
- The ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Good listening skills
- Clear spoken English
- Good grammar and spelling skills in English
Scribe Role
Applicants need to have a level of education equivalent to a first degree/NVQ Level 4 or substantial relevant experience that demonstrates a high order of literacy, numeracy and analytical skills. Applicants also need to be able to demonstrate:
- The ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Good listening skills
- Clear spoken English
- Good grammar and spelling skills in English
- Ability to type accurately at a speed of at least 25 words per minute (if willing to undertake Word processed examinations).
- An understanding of the role of a Scribe
We are looking for reliable candidates who will not change their availability at the last minute.

- Science/Maths/Health subjects
- Word processing skills
- Use of Excel spreadsheets

There is no guarantee of work but, if appointed, we will train you and endeavour to match your dates of availability to our examination sessions.

Those successful at the application stage will be invited to a group informal discussion and a dictation exercise to allow applicants to demonstrate the above-required skills. If successful following the dictation exercise applicants will be invited to a two-hour paid training session.
Interviews will be held from May 2023. They will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis at short notice, so it is in your interest to apply as soon as possible. Further interviews may take place later in 2023.

Invigilators = Grade 2, Sp 5 (£11.45 – Hourly rate)
