Job description
In this role you will support the Columbia Threadneedle Emerging Markets Equities team with investment related research with an Environmental, Social and Governance focus.
We are looking for a highly motivated and competent self-starter to come on board and fulfil a vital function in the investment process as an Investment Sustainability Analyst.
Responsibilities
Be an active member of the EM Equities investment team to support their ESG analysis, including but not limited to providing ongoing training and discussion to help analysts deepen their understanding of various ESG topics as well as ESG evaluation methodologies.
Ability to form relationships and be credible with and influence senior management and external parties.
Providing reports through researching, investigating and showcasing prospective stocks and current portfolio holdings from Environmental, Social and Governance risks and opportunities.
Keeping abreast of structural developments in respective sectors in terms of regulation and ethics and sharing these developments with the EM team.
Acting as a key information source between the RI team’s existing and potential work, and where relevant ensuring a high degree of collaboration and communication between the two teams.
Engaging regularly with portfolio holdings, identifying material themes and using engagement as a tool to drive change.
Presenting regularly to clients and internal stakeholders on social and environmental positioning of our companies, including mapping out the main portfolios from different E, S and G lens.
Leading the voting efforts for our portfolio holdings and where relevant reaching out to investee companies and expressing the reason for the direction of the vote.
Assisting the PM/Sales teams on various internal and external regulatory requirements (SFDR, country ESG licenses, PAIs).
Required Qualifications
Experience in Emerging Markets Equities with significant ESG lens and track record of successful engagement over time.
Ability to interact, collect information and express conclusion from discussions with various stakeholders from C-level to end consumers in EM.
Proven ability to synthesize complex ESG details and effectively communicate them to internally and externally to clients.
Ability and passion to write and clearly express views.
Organised and likes to organise/initiative taker.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience in Responsible Investing in publicly listed companies in Emerging Markets.
Passionate about sustainable development and purposeful investing.
