Morgan Stanley Private Markets (the Team), an investment team within MSIM, seeks to deliver innovative private markets solutions to a global client base across a variety of asset classes within private equity and related strategies. The Team is comprised of over 50 investment professionals based in suburban Philadelphia, New York, London, and Hong Kong and manages a global program across primary fund investing and direct investing in developed and emerging markets.
Since 2014, the Team has developed a strong footprint in impact investing by deploying over $1bn in social and environmental impact strategies, with a particular focus on climate impact investments ranging from cleantech to sustainable agriculture. The Team recently launched the 1GT Fund (link) to invest in growth stage decarbonization companies across power, mobility, sustainable food & agriculture, and circular economy sectors. 1GT focuses on European and North American direct investment opportunities.

Role Profile
The Team is seeking candidates with experience in a finance, investment, or strategy consulting role for an Associate position to focus on direct investing on behalf of the 1GT fund and European private markets investing, including primary fund investing.
Investment professionals at the Associate level work closely with senior investment professionals on ~4-person deal teams and are responsible for investment analysis, research, and investment process management. The private markets program spans asset classes from venture capital to leveraged buyouts and special situations. The position is available in London.

Primary Responsibilities
- Creating and executing financial analyses in support of the investment process (e.g. financial statement analysis, financial modelling, comparable company valuation analysis, etc.)
- Conducting fundamental research on a wide range of industries, companies, climate impact solutions, and macroeconomic trends
- Participating in investment diligence including calls / meetings with industry experts, equity research analysts, management teams, and private equity sponsors
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program or equivalent with superior academic performance
- Experience in private equity, investment banking, or consulting
- Interest in climate impact investing, with experience in the space a plus
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- An understanding of financial concepts, valuation, and accounting, ideally gained through direct experience of financial modelling
- A high level of attention-to-detail
- An ability to meet challenging deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy
- Strong team player
