About the Role
Positioned within Eaton Vance Equity, a group of 40+ equity investment professionals and located between London and Boston, the Global Equity Team is comprised of six experienced sector-based investors with a multi-year track record of strong alpha generation and a growing business.
We are looking to add an equity analyst with four to five years’ experience to the team. Based out of London, the analyst will be expected to evaluate and recommend public equity investment opportunities across the global and international large cap universe (MSCI World, MSCI ACWI and MSCI EAFE). The sector responsibility will be diverse and may include Chemicals, Media, Utilities and Commercial/Professional Services. It is not a pre-requisite for this individual to have experience in these sectors.
We are seeking an equity analyst with the right skills, values, and mindset. This individual must display the personality and work ethos to fit the following traits:

  • Strong foundation of analytical skills, including financial modelling, accounting, valuation and understanding of financial report & accounts.
  • Good presentation skills. An ability to debate and recognize flaws in oneself are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Generate strong and consistent alpha applying a bottom-up, fundamental investment process.
  • Initiate and sustain high-quality fundamental equity analysis of publicly traded securities.
  • Generate and proactively communicate investment recommendations on individual securities, as well as provide views on the attractiveness of relevant industries.
  • Develop proprietary investment insights from non-traditional data sources. In particular, an interest in ESG and Responsible Investing are important. The individual will need to analyse financially material ESG data and collaborate with colleagues at Calvert.
  • Diligently document all recommendations and updates, including price targets.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with portfolio managers and analysts on the other equity and fixed income teams in order to facilitate the sharing and debate of relevant information and investment ideas.
  • Proactively participate & collaborate in all team meetings, taking a holistic view of portfolios, and actively participating in debate of securities across all sectors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CFA charterholder
  • Performing at Senior Associate/Vice President level on either buy-side or sell-side equity research
  • Strong motivation to join a team of experienced investment professionals who work in a highly collaborative manner.
  • Clear analytical and decision making skills in the field of equity analysis, including an ability to build robust financial models in a timely manner.
  • Superior understanding of securities analysis, valuation methods, qualitative and quantitative techniques.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team which includes the ability to be flexible and adaptable.

This role is deemed as a Certified role and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
