Role Purpose:
An Investment Assistant at WAM plays a number of important roles. Primarily they support the client portfolio managers in their overall care of the firm’s clients. In addition to client service, this role is an introduction into investment research and portfolio construction.
The successful candidate will be starting on a career path towards taking professional qualifications and becoming a regulated investment manager.
Role Dimensions:
Prospective applicants must be self-motivated, proactive and able to work both independently as well as part of a team in a small office environment, with a keen interest in wealth management and investments.
The person will probably be based within a manageable commuting distance from the WAM office in W11 and expected to work in the office at least 4 days a week, with one ‘work from home’ day per week permitted.
Key Responsibilities:
Private Client Support
- Support in the daily administration involved in managing a clients’ investment portfolio.
- Deal with administrative queries or issues from clients, intermediaries, lawyers, trustees and accountants. Ensure that the relevant Managers are aware of any issues and developments concerning their clients and that matters are dealt with quickly and no issues are left outstanding;
- Be an additional point of contact for certain clients when the Managers are not available or busy, and build a relationship of trust with these clients;
- Assist the Managers at quarter end to complete and send out formal client reports and to format client performance reports;
- Help in the preparation of prospective client and client presentations;
Investment Research
- Assisting in researching new and currently held investments;
- Maintaining up-to-date information on funds and stocks held;
- Assisting with internal research work such as ESG analysis and ethical screens;
- Attend, contribute to and write up various meetings, both internal and external;
- Supporting business development and operations.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Degree educated;
- A keen interest in wealth management and investments;
- Numerate and with close attention to detail;
- Intermediate level in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Outstanding telephone and email manner;
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Happy to work in a small office environment.
