The Role
The Stores Supervisor is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day communications, organisation and smooth running of the Stores and Yard areas. Managing a small team responsible for picking customer orders and providing materials to support the manufacturing department; ensuring tasks are carried out to meet customer delivery requirements including stock control, layout and efficiency measures.
Responsibilities
- Proactive stock control management, ensuring sufficient quantities are available and assembled/picked as required. Liaising with purchasing and manufacturing to highlight any potential stocking issues including shortages and excessive stocking levels.
- Proactive role in the development of the department and continuous improvement focusing on workflow and organisation of the area to improve efficiencies.
- Responsible for Goods In and Goods Out, checking all deliveries for accuracy and quality.
- People leader, responsible for monitoring performance and motivating the team to increase efficiencies and achieve the area KPIs.
- Responsible for all aspect of people management, communication, performance, appraisals, support and all general staffing issues, working closely with HR as and when required.
- Monthly stock taking and cycle counting of the Stores and Yard; reviewing and analysing results and investigating discrepancies.
- Ensure all Company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times .
- Responsible for ensuring that H&S, Quality standards and procedures are adhered to at all times, reporting any incidents or non-conformance to the appropriate departments.
- Contribute to the investigation of incidents, non-conformances and/or quality complaints as well as supporting the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Working closely with manufacturing to assess daily/weekly requirements.
- Completing administration tasks using the company ERP system
- Ensuring the department machinery and facilities are maintained and kept clean and tidy.
- Any other duties as assigned by the management team, in order to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifactions/Skills:
- Practical and relevant experience working in Stock Control / Stores / Quality / Compliance role or similar
- Positive, self-motivated leader.
- A high level of accuracy/attention to detail along with excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work cross functionally with all departments to drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent IT skills are essential, experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Ability to carry out a wide variety of tasks and adapt to the changing needs of the Company.
- First aider experience would be desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
- Fork lift licence would be desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
- Awareness of COSHH and Hazardous Materials storage including FIFO.
