BAT UK IS LOOKING FOR A LEAF SUPPLY & INVENTORY ANALYST
JOB TYPE: Permanent

Purpose statement:
This position will back the Leaf Planning Manager to ensure implementation of company strategy in Leaf Planning area for Wester Europe (WE) region. Maintain efficient collaboration with Global Leaf Pool (GLP) and Regional Stakeholders to complete Weekly / Monthly processes in adherence with agreed timing. Support with changes to Leaf network footprint in WE Regional and Leaf planning to ensure uninterrupted supply of tobacco and blend components to meet production requirements in adherence to Stock Holding Policy and critical metrics. Ensuring the leaf requirements of the Western European factories are met with no interruption to continuity of supply.
Key accountabilities
I. Operation / Professional / Business
- Place Leaf and Semi Finish Blend (SFB) (Natural Wrapper, White Tobacco and Binder) Purchase Orders & Stock Transfer Orders in-line with supplier lead-times and SAP parameters to meet factory production plan requirements for given Leaf / SFB responsibilities. Principal point of contact between BAT and supplier/customers.
- Supervise shipment progress to destination, liaise with shipping lines
- Ensure period of Leaf / SFB cover is sufficient whilst maintaining target inventory levels and driving efficient durations by handling all SAP exception messages. Support running of inventory model on a quarterly basis and review safety stocks.
- Control over orders placement process ensuring inventory policy and transportation cost optimization
- Master data creation, mapping & management in multiple systems
- SOx related reportings, activities
- Key User with User Acceptance and Regression testing activities
II. Leadership
- Support implementation of processes to support new initiatives, to enable the full potential of benefits to be realised within the given time.
- Support partners to align and harmonise common planning processes.
III. Management
- Embracing the most efficient purchasing processes, measurements and controls to achieve the lowest total acquisition cost and balance the requirements of sub contracted materials.
- Help with implementation of systems which support the leaf management processes.
- Explore opportunities for improved planning efficiency and placing of materials orders
IV. Relationships
- Maintain and build excellent working relationships with GLP and external Suppliers and exchange of information to ensure effective processes are developed.
- Internal partner management is fundamental to the future development of the Plan function. This includes not only the Plan function but also cross functional department which should include NPI, Factory Prime Manufacture Department and Logistics.
- Regular communication with Finance for inventory analysis and critical metric reporting and root causing.
- Regional Product Centre to ensure alignment of Demand signal with planned blend changes.
V. Innovation
- Instigate continuous improvement initiatives with GLP and external Suppliers, handling own resource and actions from other functions into this process to deliver quality improvement and cost reductions
- Recommendations on continuous improvement.

I. Context/Environment
LEAF SUPPLY & INVENTORY ANALYST reports to Leaf Planning Manager on behalf of BAT EXP, who reports to Global Leaf Pool Supply Chain and Service Manager.
II. Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated ability in a FMCG company handling Supply Planning processes
- Sound Knowledge of materials planning and purchasing methods.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are crucial.
- Good knowledge in materials planning Best Practices
- Knowledge of operational systems and procedures (forecasting, MRP, BOM, etc) with a good appreciation of other related functions (Customer Services, Production Scheduling and Production Planning).
- Self motivating with the ability to work unsupervised and under pressure.
- Structured approach to work, able to prioritise & self-led.
III. Key Success Factors
- Leaf stock levels maintained according to agreed policy.
- Uninterrupted factory operation through the supply of leaf as per production plan and schedule.
- Effective execution of new product introduction, projects (in coordination with GLP & NPI managers) through high availability of Leaf
- Achieve effective relationships with all internal and external partners, including suppliers, to improve visibility of plans for smooth execution at minimum cost.
- Customer portfolio managed within targets
- Attention to detail
IV. Working Relationships
- GLP team to receive related reports for deployment planning
- GLP team in resolution of medium and long term supply constraints, cost reduction and optimization initiatives implementation etc.
- Factory teams in resolution operational issues, in implementation global and regional initiatives
- Daily contact with GLP and Product to ensure long term relationship is developed with the leaf suppliers to drive business process improvements.
- External and internal Leaf Suppliers
