We're looking for a creative team player with good interpersonal, communication skills and IT skills to join the Interventional Psychiatry ( rTMS, ECT, Ketamine) team as Technician.
The purpose of this post is to deliver high quality care for patients receiving rapid transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and ketamine treatment.
The treatments are vital for patients suffering with treatment -resistant depression and can really make a change to their lives. The post holder will develop knowledge and skills across all three therapeutic areas: rTMS, ECT, ketamine.
We are keen to help you develop into this role and our friendly team will support you with a structured orientation focusing on Interventional Psychiatry Technician competencies. A willingness to undertake other trainings related to this role as well cannulation, ECG is essential. As we develop the team dynamically, there will be opportunities for further, interesting career progression.
The Interventional Psychiatry suite is based at the Warneford Hospital and Sane POWIC Building, and it continues to develop and expand quickly.
The service currently provides:
- rTMS – between Monday and Friday.
- ECT treatment on Tuesday and Friday mornings (2-10 patients).
- Ketamine treatment to Oxfordshire patients on Tuesdays and Fridays (3-6 patients).
- NHS Self-funded ketamine treatment on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (24 patients).
- To assist with rTMS administration and related activities, including preparation and assisting patients under the direction of the clinical team.
- To be involved in administrative duties as required in the clinic/department in liaison with colleagues.
- To provide support to clinical staff and act on own behalf within department/service guidelines.
- To support Ketamine and ECT clinic if needed.
- To act on own initiative, organize own workload and represent the service within the scope of departmental policy
- Other duties as agreed by Lead Nurse
- All staff have an obligation to participate in the Trust’s incident reporting system and to participate in and comply with the procedures and techniques for managing risks.
- Ability to work within the boundaries of their existing and developing skills at all times

In this role. you will work 37. 5h hours per week in Interventional Psychiatry ( rTMS, ECT, Ketamine) under the supervision of registered nurses/ clinical fellows to assist in the administration and delivery of treatments in accordance with a person centered care approach, working as part of an effective multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients receive an excellent standard care.
