  • Corporate and Institutional Banking which includes Corporate Banking, Clearing, Global Markets - Sales & Trading and Financial Institutions
  • Commercial Clients which includes Asset Based Finance and Transaction Banking Hub, which provides trade finance and transactional banking services

Department and Team Culture

The Monitoring, Controls & Testing team forms part of Compliance and comprises three experienced employees. The team works with the business and functions like Risk, Legal, Finance and HR to ensure that
controls to enable the firm / different business units and support functions are executed and to a high standard and in timely manner, so that the firm meets its regulatory obligations.



These controls range from the on boarding of clients and keeping an eye on their transactions with the firm to our own employees and how and where they conduct themselves.



The team is enthusiastic and eager to work with colleagues in business lines and support functions and make sure the controls are fit for purpose and performed effectively.


What will your responsibilities look like?

The team’s priorities this year are the prevention of financial crime, whether by clients or our own employees, so risks like money laundering, sanctions and tax evasion, fraud and activities that put the integrity of financial markets / welfare of clients at risk.



We are particularly keen to engage an intern to assist with fact finding, for example engaging team managers on how they manage risks like fraud (client and employee), market abuse, and treating customers fairly, and review the materials provided by team managers to evidence adherence with regulations.

What are we looking for?

  • Penultimate year undergraduate student (studying a relevant degree) or second/third year apprenticeship student equivalent
  • Enthusiastic individuals with contemporary values
  • A motivated interest in Financial Services
  • Some knowledge of and much interest in financial regulations or basic concepts of regulation
  • Ability to communicate clearly and comprehensively with a variety of audiences
  • Solid IT skills; proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Effective at following instructions
  • Enthusiasm / willingness to muck in and curiosity

Additional Information

Salary Indication: (London Living Wage - £11.95 per hour)


£90 per day, equivalent to £20,430 per annum and £1,702 to £3,405 for duration of placement

Hybrid working arrangement with up to 3 days in office (1 day must be a Tuesday) and the remaining days working from home
