Job Description

Get ahead this summer on our Bright Futures Intern programme. If you’re looking for the perfect opportunity in a dynamic work environment, where innovation, creativity, and fresh ideas are welcomed, then our intern programme is for you.

You will learn from experts in their field and experience a fantastic culture, all whilst developing your brand and gaining vital skills that will pave the way to a fantastic career.

This internship opportunity is within our Chief information Office (CIO) and will see you joining one of our technical project teams to learn the ropes in business analytics. You will support several analytical activities to support the effective delivery of one or more projects involved in managing or implementing changes to business operations.

As an intern, you will work with stakeholders to elicit, understand, analyse, document, refine and communicate business needs to our technical delivery teams so they can build and implement effective solutions.

Role Requirements

You will gain vast insight into our culture and our business and align that insight with your career ambitions. Successful completion of the summer internship could lead to you being offered a place on our Bright Futures graduate programme after Graduation.

Aside from being one of the world’s longest-standing general insurers providing peace of mind to individuals, families, small businesses, and large corporations, we pride ourselves in bringing together the brightest people from diverse backgrounds.

Being a part of RSA means being part of an inclusive, collaborative, and diverse community that allows people to feel and be their best. Joining us means being part of a company committed to transparency in the way we work. We use responsible business practices that not only span our investments, choice of suppliers and environmental impact, but how we engage with customers and employees.

Responsibilities

In this internship opportunity, we will encourage you to:

  • Support the team to identify needs, gather requirements, develop user stories, and propose business solutions
  • Work closely with the Product Owner, Scrum masters, and Software Development team to ensure user requirements, stories, and acceptance criteria are well understood to enable truly agile delivery
  • Continuously refine user stories in the backlog to ensure the appropriate level of detail is captured at the right time
  • Support the Product Owner in executing and maintaining the product roadmap
  • Suggest areas for process and productivity improvements within the team
  • Collate and reconcile data and information from various sources to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Produce and provide clarification on periodic or ad-hoc reports or analyses within the project framework

The Individual

We want your individualism, capability, and ambition to shine through. You will need to have a zest for learning and a willingness to be hands on in the role.

You will need to be a Graduate in your penultimate year of study.

The best skills to have to be successful in this internship are:

  • Strong and effective communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
  • An eye for detail, and an analytical nature teamed with the ability to collate and interrogate data with the use of Excel
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to focus on details, whilst maintaining the 'big picture' view
  • Be able to work independently, but remain organised throughout projects in a fast-paced environment
  • A results driven outlook that will support RSA to outperformance
