Job Description Summary
An Internet Banking Software engineer is required to manage a team within the Channels Enabling Lab responsible for a range of Internet Banking “Route to Live” environments ensuring that they are designed and maintained to meet our commitments to providing our customers the ability to deliver and test changes at an ever-increasing pace, whilst ensuring that resiliency, security, and quality remain uncompromised.

What can you expect!
Reporting into the Lab Engineering Lead, the successful colleague will take ownership for the high-level cost estimation, solution design and engineering of infrastructure solutions across the Internet estate.
Job Description
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
- Working with Colleagues from across the organisation to deliver modernisation improvements across the internet banking Infrastructure estate
- Lead proof of concept work to refine option for future strategic upgrade.
- Management of the component teams delivering environment requests for the various projects within the programme initiative.
- Assisting project defect managers in defect analysis to identify and resolve any Internet Banking test environment specific defects.
- Communication with a variety of our customers across various parts of the organisation on the progress of environment provisioning and the management and mitigation of any risks or delays to the completion of the work.
- Coordinating the various projects within an overall Internet Banking Business Release as they progress through route to live and into production including the resolution of conflicting project priorities within the release.
- Resolving conflicts as needed to protect the overall release in the event of slippage or change by individual projects, co-ordinating communications with individual project’s accountable executives as required.
- Defining and agreeing the content of each release and ensuring that the component projects understand their responsibilities as a part of an Internet / Open Banking Business Release.
- Identifying and ensuring delivery of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) needs, taking into account data management and data volume considerations.
Essential Skills:
- A technical background with a broad depth of IT infrastructure experience that gives you an understanding of the bigger picture.
- Proven demonstrable experience of:
Server technologies
- Windows Server
- WebSphere Application Server
- WebSphere Liberty
- Linux
- AIX
- Oracle DB / SQL
Cloud Technologies
- Knowledge of Google / Azure Cloud
- Experience of delivering containerisation solutions for existing legacy applications, including the use of Docker
DevOps tooling and automation, including the use of:
- GitHub
- Jenkins
- Urban Code Deploy
- Rapid Deploy
Alerting and Monitoring configuration:
- Splunk
- Dynatrace
- Grafana
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload, you might be running with multiple projects with different dates and contending priorities for delivery using waterfall or agile delivery methodologies and tools – JIRA / Confluence.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates excellent social skills and can optimally demonstrate strong negotiation and influencing techniques when required.
- Adopts a collaborative, proactive and motivated approach, with the ability to lead and deliver through others.
- Takes full ownership and accountability for tasks assigned to them.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to make good judgements.
- The ability to multitask and handle full workloads and tight deadlines. Is both delivery and quality focussed.
