About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our Partner Communications team in the role of Internal Communication and Engagement Manager. In this role, you’ll help inform, engage and inspire Partners in the ambitions and strategic direction of the Partnership and the key role they personally play in delivery.

You’ll work to engage Partners in our core Purpose, to feel pride in helping deliver our principles of creating happier people, a happier business and happier world. Partners will always be front of mind and you’ll actively seek out Partner opinion, at all levels, to ensure they inform decision-making and activity. You’ll be able to work on your own initiative and take the lead in your ‘business partner’ area, building strong relationships with key stakeholders and creating a local delivery plan that aligns with overall strategy. You’ll support and mentor junior members of the team, both allocated to your business area and more widely. You’ll have a strong sense of ‘team’.

You’ll adopt a creative approach to engagement, using written, verbal and visual methods to tell a consistent and compelling story, ‘joining the dots’ so Partners don’t have to. You’ll become a trusted advisor for your key stakeholders, giving them expert guidance to ensure agreed objectives are achieved and substantiated through feedback and measurement.

Ultimately, your goal is to help shift the cultural dial so that Partners feel heard, valued and proud, that they become and remain loyal advocates of our unique Partnership and do their absolute best to support each other and deliver for our customers, every day.

So what will you be doing day to day?:

Communications and engagement strategy - play your part in delivering and developing (ongoing) our agreed communications and engagement strategy.

Culture - help create the conditions for all leaders and Partners to thrive and consistently make their best contribution.

Complex change - manage complex change and engagement programmes.

Channels - help to ensure we have a diverse, modern and fit-for-purpose suite of channels to suit all audiences, which are continually reviewed and refined to ensure ongoing relevance.

Feedback and measurement - ensure feedback is used to continuously improve our offering; ensure we understand what we want and need to measure, how we’ll measure and ensure that data/information informs future activity and thinking.

What you'll have

  • Demonstrable experience working at a senior level for other large organisations

  • A solid understanding of engagement theory and demonstrable practical success in employee engagement

  • Strong core technical skills, including writing, event design, listening, planning, stakeholder management and influencing.

  • Sound knowledge of a modern channel mix.

So now you know what we'd love to see from you, here's what we can offer you in return...

  • You will enjoy 25% discount at John Lewis and 20% in Waitrose

  • The Partnership has a competitive pension scheme where your contributions will be matched by the Partnership (up to 8% of pay)

  • Health Care cover

  • Excellent work life balance, including focus on well being and flexible working and our marketing leading equal parenthood leave policy
