About the role

Communications is at the centre of the council, so you'll be joining a team that’s playing a major part in helping shape the direction and vision of the organisation’s post-pandemic culture change.

You'll already have wide-ranging experience of developing and implementing high quality corporate comms campaigns and be confident and capable of working with and influencing senior staff, including our chief executive.

Our very supportive and friendly team has a fantastic mix of skills, experience and talents and covers internal and external comms, campaigns, social media, design, website and publications.

You'll need drive, energy, focus, confidence and resilience to succeed, as well as excellent writing skills, creativity and strategic thinking.

Roles in our comms team don't come up very often, so if you think you've got what it takes, are a great team player and fancy working in our amazing city beside the sea, we'd love you to apply.

Working in the Communications Team at Brighton & Hove City Council

Brighton and Hove is a fantastic place to work, play and be.

We attract more than 11 million visitors a year, deliver 450+ services every day, have 4,500 staff and are always in the news and on social media - so there's never a dull moment for the comms team.

We’re a very hardworking group of friendly and talented people who, through our individual personalities and styles, create an exciting and ambitious working environment.

Our culture is strongly based around supporting each other to develop, to learn and to achieve the full potential of the team.

We also have an open, creative and collaborative culture where all team members have a say and responsibility for how the service is shaped and evolves. We also work flexibly and mainly hybrid.

We have local elections in early May, a new interim chief executive starting soon and the city's economy is beginning to thrive again in the post-pandemic world.

These are very exciting times at the council and for the team.
