The Role…
This role will be a key contributor to the Internal Audit & SOx Team, and will support the global Sarbanes Oxley (SOx) assurance program and internal audit delivery plans. Using a risk-based approach, the Internal Auditor – Business Operations will co-ordinate, execute and document controls testing to required standards across a range of key business processes. The role reports into the Senior Manager Internal Audit & SOx.
Main Duties…
- Performance of internal audit procedures and clear documentation and reporting of outcomes in line with the internal audit plan.
- Perform tests of detail and operating effectiveness of key SOx business process controls throughout the year, documentation of results, and remediation testing where necessary;
- Conduct controls walkthroughs to gain an understanding of key business processes, and observation of controls operation;
- Proactive management of the request and document receipt process with a range of control owners, including tracking actions to completion;
- Manage closure of queries independently through to resolution, and provide guidance where needed on required process and control enhancements;
- Identify any significant risks or exposures related to internal controls, compliance, and/or governance requiring prompt attention;
- Provide technical guidance and advice to the business owners for remediation of internal control deficiencies;
- Ensure that controls are properly designed for all in-scope processes, and support with re-design of controls as internal processes evolve;
- An awareness of IT General Controls, and interdependence with business controls is advantageous;
- Develop strong working relationships across the business, to help with the achievement of work goals, and to provide advice and support for the delivery of best practice control and governance
Requirements / Qualifications...
- Ideal for a newly qualified accountant as a first move out of practice. Accounting qualification preferred (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Minimum of 3 years' Financial audit / Internal audit / or SOx controls testing experience.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of internal control concepts (e.g. COSO, COBIT).
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to take ownership of work areas.
- Knowledge and experience with key retail, and hospitality processes and systems would be advantageous (e.g. OTC, PTP, Inventory, Accounting ERPs, Micros-Oracle, Salesforce).
- Strong interest in the continued development of the SOx, Risk and Compliance function.
- Good project management skills.
- Ability to adjust priorities and manage time appropriately and wisely in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments in the UK and overseas.
- The successful candidate will be a committed, team player has a proven ability to deliver to demanding deadlines with strong written and verbal communication skills.
