The London office was set up in 2008 and has grown to a portfolio of £7bn of assets across London, Paris and Berlin with a focus on life sciences, logistics, residential, offices, and high street retail. The London office comprises 60 employees across the investment, development, asset management, legal and finance teams and continues to grow to manage the existing portfolio and plan for further expansion.
Oxford’s Europe Strategy Plan is in constant evolution and provides the basis to grow the European business with a continued focus on London, Paris and Germany.
The Role:
The Summer 2024 Intern, Oxford Analyst will work across investment, development, strategy, asset, and portfolio management functions. Key responsibilities will include analysis of real estate investments and development / leasing opportunities, market research, and supporting all asset classes and regional teams on transaction executions.
Day-to-day duties will include:
Financial analysis of a wide range of real estate transactions, including Excel-based modelling of real estate cash flows and research to support key underwriting assumptions
Analysis and interpretation of real estate, economic and public company data, including financial statements, to conduct valuation and operational benchmarking
Preparation of documents for internal and external purposes, including assembly of investment committee memos, strategy papers and presentations to partners
The Person:
The candidate will have either of the educational requirements:
1-2 remaining years of study (whether a final year of an undergraduate / postgraduate degree or having completed an undergraduate degree with a position secured to undertake a one-year postgraduate degree). Oxford Properties’ intention being to provide a full-time offer upon graduation the following year, subject to performance and resourcing requirements
Completed their undergraduate / postgraduate study and available if the internship was to be converted into a full-time position (subject to performance and resourcing requirements)
Other requirements:
Robust analytical and technical / financial modelling skills, as demonstrated either through work experience or academics (strong grades in transcript would be an advantage)
Experience in investment / financial analysis and transaction support, preferably within commercial real estate, an advantage
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
A desire and interest for a career in real estate
Experience in presentation preparation and research
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
Willingness to work across time zones and geographies in Europe from time to time, as required
Team player; self-starter; professional and positive attitude; diligent, able to take initiative and work in a dynamic environment
Ability to work well within a small, relatively flat team Fluency in English. Fluency in German, French or other languages aligned with Oxford’s strategy would be an advantage
As part of the recruitment process, we will be asking successful applicants to undertake an excel financial modelling test mid-June. We recommended practicing using Joshua Kahr’s case studies .
