Chapman Taylor is an award-winning, AJ Top 100 practice, operating from 15 studios globally. Our Manchester studio, located in Bass Warehouse in the heart of Castlefield, provides a vibrant, creative work environment situated a short walk from Deansgate Station.

We are looking for a highly motivated Interior Designer with excellent design and presentation skills to join our Manchester studio. We are offering the chance to work in a dynamic studio environment, with the opportunity to develop your career while working on a range of high-profile and exciting projects, in both the UK and internationally.

Our Manchester studio is involved in all design stages from strategic briefing through concept development and onto technical design and delivery. We place great emphasis on what we describe as ‘Responsible Design’, looking beyond environmental sustainability and considering the wider socio-economic implications of all our projects, including the effect on the physical and mental well-being of those who inhabit and use the spaces we create. We are committed to continually improving the quality of our design and investing in new ideas for the future through our structured R&D programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced designer with a minimum of 3 years' experience in professional practice. You will enjoy working as part of a team of interior designers, architects and graphic designers and will need to be able to lead and motivate others across a range of high-profile projects.

We are seeking a creative designer with excellent design & communication skills, a passion for design and good organisational abilities to work as part of our growing Interiors team.

The Role:

  • Create and develop designs that respond to current/future trends
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and consultants
  • Contribute to thought leadership and R&D.

Key Attributes:

  • Creative flair and a strong design ethos
  • A keen interest in and knowledge of sustainable design
  • Prior experience of designing and delivering projects across a range of sectors
  • A team player
  • Strong and confident presentation skills - 3D modeling, hand-drawn, verbal and written
  • Ability to present concept design ideas and narrative confidently
  • Knowledgeable about the latest innovations and events in the global design industry.
  • Sociable, with an interest in attending design and network events, meeting representatives and continued personal development
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit / AutoCAD / Enscape
  • Experience in SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite, with the opportunity for advanced training
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of materials and specifications
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to support the studio’s culture.

Core Business Values:

  • To be an ambassador for Chapman Taylor, promoting its values and beliefs
  • To assist with the implementation of Chapman Taylor’s UK business strategy
  • To promote collaborative team working
  • To assist in developing and fostering positive morale across the studios.
