Join our active Technical Support Department and be part of an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of new ideas and advancements, preparing our students for successful careers in the creative industries. We are seeking an Interactive Computing Technician who enjoys working in a creative and dynamic educational environment. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the 3D making and Media Studio teams in the Reid Building.
You will provide technical support to students across various subjects such as Communication Design, Fashion, Textiles, Fine Art, Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design, Curatorial Practice, and Interaction Design.
Your responsibilities will include designing and delivering diverse workshops, as well as providing tech providing opportunities to develop new skills through technical support for day-to-day operations related to Interactive Computing practices. Your expertise in Physical Computing, Programming, and Coding will be invaluable as you become an integral part of our technical team.
You will support and maintain a welcoming and accessible community resource responsive to student needs while ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines and best practice. In addition, you will play a vital role in communicating with staff and students throughout the school, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is accessible by students and staff.
You should be qualified to HND level or have equivalent experience in kinetics and various digital and manual techniques, including interactive prototyping. You should be able to provide innovative solutions to creative problems using various digital and manual processes, including creative coding, arduino components and soldering. You will also be familiar with standard CAD packages and how they are used across art and design. You should be able to blend current innovation with more traditional techniques as appropriate.
