Job Description:
To provide high quality administrative support to the claims and underwriting functions of the Insurance Service.
Ensuring that claims are accurately recorded in accordance with protocols, insurer requirements and service level agreements. The post holder will also be required to monitor and manage their own caseload of low value material damage and motor claims and provide support to more senior colleagues in their work.
As directed, the post holder will ensure efficient administration of policy and financial transactions relating to the claims and underwriting functions.
As required, the post holder will collate and manage asset data for presentation to insurers and for use in financial modelling and recharge. They will manage queries in relation to policy cover, ensuring answers are sought from brokers and insurers as appropriate.
The post holder will undertake production of standardised data reports as directed.
Person Specification:
Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential:
·Minimum 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above.
·NVQ Administration or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
·Relevant professional qualification (Foundation Insurance Test or above) or progression towards relevant professional qualification.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
·Basic understanding of insurance claims management, principles and practices.
·Good understanding of the need to maintain quality systems and processes, and ability to work to high levels of accuracy.
·Ability to read and interpret a range of communications and documents seeking support and clarification where required.
·Ability to multi-task and prioritise to meet deadlines.
Desirable:
·Basic understanding of the application of the Civil Procedure Rules.
·Basic understanding of the structure and content of insurance policies and ability to interpret cover offered by them.
Skills & Attributes
Essential:
·Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to respond to queries in a manner which the recipient will understand.
·Ability to work to a high standard with minimum of guidance and supervision.
·Ability to work as part of a team planning, assisting and supporting the work of others.
·Ability to use IT systems to obtain, filter and report on data. Experience in use of MS Office systems.
·Ability to support the provision of management information and data reports.
