About the role:
The vacancy is for an Instrument/Electrical Technician in the Instrument/Electrical Section of Works Engineering Department at our Eccles Site in Manchester UK.
Key accountabilities of the role include:
- Carrying out the planned and breakdown maintenance of electrical, instrumentation and control equipment, installations, and systems in a Chemical Manufacturing facility.
- Working to the site permit to work system including the accepting of permits to work.
- Using the company ERP system for the ordering of materials and services.
- Using the Engineering Management System for processing work orders, preventive maintenance planning and the recording of time.
- Assisting in any other engineering activity across the site.
- Standing in for the E/I Engineering Coordinator during absence.
In addition, the successful candidate will become part of a small team led by an Instrument/Electrical Coordinator, working to precise standards of quality, output, and efficiency as set by engineering, site and business management. The job holder must also adhere to all aspects of health, safety and environmental controls to protect the safety and wellbeing of all Site personnel.
The role is included in our collective bargaining agreement with Unite The Union. There is a requirement for rostered weekend work (1 weekend every 5 weeks) and call outs.
About you:
The successful candidate will possess the following experience, qualifications, and skills:
- a time served Instrument/Electrical Maintenance Engineer who will be able to demonstrate competence in instrument/electrical work ideally in a chemical manufacturing environment, or a like manufacturing industry.
- Trained in the 18th edition of the IEE Electrical Regulations (BS7671) and in the installation and maintenance of electrical and instrument equipment in hazardous areas to the ATEX directive.
- You will possess and demonstrate diagnostic maintenance skills and be able to trouble shoot engineering problem areas.
- You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills.
- Capable of using information provided to prioritise tasks.
- Computer literacy is also an important requirement to be able to fulfil this role.
