Instructor, Marketing
The School of Hospitality & Tourism located on the Tenth Street campus in Nelson, BC offers diploma and post-graduate diploma programs that prepare students to launch their career in the global hospitality industry. We are currently seeking instructors with hospitality experience to teach courses in Marketing. This course examines the roles and functions of marketing in the tourism industry. This is a part-time position covering both the fall (two sections) and winter (two sections) semesters.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment while delivering course outcomes.
- Facilitating student learning using relevant application of industry content.
- Administration of course preparation, delivery and grading.
- Evaluation of student progress and achievement through the use of valid and effective assessment and feedback.
- Continuous developmental updating of curriculum to ensure relevance.
- Maintaining professionalism with students and industry relations.
- Participating in school meetings and other duties as assigned by the school chair.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to teach.
- A robust understanding of subject matter and its relationship to the hospitality & tourism industry.
- Excellent communication, team work, and time management skills.
- Proficient computer skills and experience (including Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Working knowledge of Moodle or other Learning Management System or experience in online delivery is an asset.
- Ability to relate with a diversity of students from multiple cultural backgrounds.
Education and Experience
- A combination of post-secondary education and business/hospitality experience equaling a minimum of nine (9) years.
- A diploma in a related field; preference may be given to those with a degree in a related discipline.
- Senior management experience in the hospitality industry is an asset.
- Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
- BC Provincial Instructional Diploma or equivalent is an asset.
This is a short-term, part-time (34%) appointment commencing August 8, 2023 and ending April 29, 2024. Salary and Benefits are in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,416.46 - $3,882.99 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
