Job description

ROLE REQUIREMENTS (to either hold or be working towards as directed by Line Manager)

  • Hold or be working towards a CPCS Tester qualification (Section Equipment)
  • Hold or be working towards NVQ A & V Units
  • Hold a Defence Instructional Techniques certificate
  • Hold a Professional Teaching Certificate
  • Hold a CAT C, G & H driving licence
  • Attend ASLS parts A and B
  • Achieve Institute For Learning membership and maintain Continued Professional Development log in accordance with IFL requirements

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • To instruct both Regular and TA soldiers who attend formal Plant Operator courses at RSME in the operation and maintenance of all in-service ‘C’ Vehicles or Engineer Construction Plant in accordance with relevant Training Objective’s
  • Responsible for the safety and welfare of students whilst under his control
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as deemed appropriate and commensurate to the grade

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of his course dossier. (Lesson plans, documents, tests)
  • Mark, assess and give constructive feedback on student homework
  • Responsible for serviceability and maintenance of equipment used by students under his control
  • Order equipment as required by the training programme:

i. Receipt equipment from BDS

ii. Maintain the equipment and documents for duration of loan period

iii. Maintain fault book and report faults immediately to BDS

iv. Monitor and record rectification of faults

v. Return equipment back to BDS

  • Submit reports on students and courses as detailed by Section Instructor
  • Carry out any reasonable task given by Section Instructor
  • Stand in for Section Instructor when requested
  • Act as an Operator in various demonstrations when requested by Section Leader
  • To be responsible for your own welfare by following the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and other related policies such as Equal Opportunities, Harassment, Disability and Data Protection etc

Management/Communication

  • To communicate honestly with your Line Manager
  • To be responsible for your own time and attendance at work
  • To achieve deadlines/targets that have been set by your Line Manager
  • To work within your departmental budget and assist in the control of costs
  • To assist your Line Manager to implement change within the department
  • To communicate and liaise with all other departments, as required
  • To assist your Line Manager to work towards the Business Plan and Long-term/Strategic objectives

Reviews & Planning

  • To be available to be reviewed and appraised by your immediate Line Manager in a timely manner

Training & Evaluation

  • To ensure that you receive any agreed training that has been identified either at appraisal or outside of appraisal.
  • To complete requests for training documentation and discuss this fully with your Line Manager in a timely manner in line with the Staff Training Procedure.
  • In conjunction with your Line Manager evaluate the effectiveness of the training and development activities you have undertaken.
  • To effectively utilise new skills from your training

Responsibilities

  • To work within the Company’s Quality procedures within relevant departments
  • To assist in working towards & maintaining the IIP standard
  • To conform with Health and Safety at Work Regs and environmental issues
  • To conform with actions necessary in cases of accident or fire
  • To keep your work area clean and safe
  • To undertake/perform other duties associated with this role, by agreement
  • To act as an ambassador for the Company
