Job description
Serco is seeking a Junior Instructional Designer to join our team supporting the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Charleston, SC, who will report to the Senior ISD/Contract Project Manager. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a DHS Public Trust clearance prior to starting employment. US Citizenship is required.
In this role you will:
- Update and maintain course content for instructor-led and web-based courses
- Work with subject matter experts and instructors to design and develop lesson plans, student guides, quizzes, and other elements of scenario-based and performance-based instructor-led and web-based training under the guidance of a Sr. ISD
- Work with an instructional design team (instructional designers, graphic artists, SMEs, instructors) and project and program managers to design responsive training and/or performance support solutions and schedules
- Demonstrate knowledge of law enforcement and training accreditation to assist the Senior ISD in fostering design innovation in training these areas
- Support evidence gathering to support accreditation requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or a related field plus 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Ability to obtain/maintain/transfer your Public Trust clearance prior to beginning employment
- The ability to coordinate and work effectively with subject matter experts and as part of an Instructional Design team
- Experience developing instructor-led and web-based systems training for the federal Government
- Demonstrated ability with word-processing and presentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word and PowerPoint) as well as web-based training and simulation tools
- Demonstrated ability to present complex information clearly
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills, facilitation, interpersonal and client interaction skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proven experience as a team player
- Familiarity or experience with federal law enforcement training and subject matter
- Familiarity or experience with accredited training program requirements
- 10% travel required.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Experience designing and developing federal law enforcement training
- Experience working on FLETA or other accredited courses
