Pembina Hills School Division invites applications for the position of a temporary Educational Assistant based out of Swan Hills School.

Pembina Hills School Division provides education to approximately 3800 students in 15 community schools in north central Alberta. The School – Swan Hills School
Located approximately 200 km northwest of Edmonton, Swan Hills School, is a K-12 school with approximately 200 students offering programming focused on meeting the needs of every learner and building community. The school’s motto is “Together We Can; Together We Will!” Their mission is that “together, in cooperation, we will provide a diverse education which challenges individuals to achieve exemplary academics, character and citizenship”.
The Position
The successful candidate must be a self-directed team player who is interested in providing support and encouragement to students with a diversity of learning needs. Hours of work will be Monday-Friday at 6.5 hours/day following the school calendar. Duties are to commence as soon as possible and will end June 28, 2023, with the possibility of an extension into the 2023/2024 school year.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Experience supporting students with behavior difficulties
- Experience supporting students with developmental delays
- Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of childhood development
- A clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a program assistant
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team in an inclusive environment
- Enthusiastic and motivated to help students succeed
- First aid would be an asset
