Essential Skills/Traits/Knowledge:
A happy, positive person that oozes common sense
Control4 certified technician with 2+ years’ experience
Can explain what DHCP, IGMP, DMZ, DNS and QOS are without breaking a sweat
A neat-freak, super-tidy, organised type Desirable Skills/Traits/Knowledge:
PCNA certification

A Spurs or Arsenal fan (everyone here seems to be!)
Ability to make us all laugh
Live within a 40 minute rush-hour drive of TW16 7EF - we don’t want you spending your entire life in the van!
About You:
A ‘can-do’ attitude and keen to figure out problems on your own
Question everything (in the smartly curious way, not like my 5 year old!)
Fascinated by our industry - you probably spend your spare time experimenting with programming and discovering cool products.
Just as happy talking to the site labourer as you are talking to the Lord of the Manor.
Smart and presentable - we work at the top end of the market so we need to look and behave like we do
Appreciative of a good debate, even with your boss
Looking for solutions, not problems
Pedantic about details, accuracy and organisation. You’ll probably have a colour coded, neatly folded underwear drawer.
No ego - it’s okay, we’re all wrong sometimes. I’m wrong about something nearly every day! We want people who are more interested in fixing problems than figuring out who’s to blame... although if you ARE to blame it’s okay, just own up to it and put it right. You won’t last long if you don’t.
The guy who stays until the end when something really needs doing
Paid for your own stuff through a part time job as a teenager
Want to work for a David rather than a Goliath, enjoys the small, tight team vibe.
A bit of a wordsmith, both at a keyboard and on the phone
About the Job:
Working under a project manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering to the installation plan set out for you by our design team (we use D-Tools for all of our system design and have won worldwide awards for our design work) and our work management software (we use Monday - it’s how we communicate inside the company, it’s fun to use and very powerful). You’ll be responsible for commissioning the system so that it can be checked by the project manager prior to handover to the client. This includes everything from network/OvrC configuration (we have a very detailed procedure for this - it’s key to offering great aftercare) to Control4 and Lutron programming. We’ve got some magnificent projects lined up for 2023, so if you want to push yourself and work at the very highest level, this is the place to be. We’d prefer if all of our projects were within 10 minutes of our Sunbury-on-Thames office, but they’re not. Most of them are in West London and the home counties and we normally do a project abroad most years. So there’s a fair bit of travelling but that won’t come as a surprise if you’ve got the experience. We work on-site 8am-4pm (this might occasionally change to 9-5pm at a client’s request). Aftercare is a huge part of our business, To help us offer a better service and improve the quality of our engineers lives, we’re currently transitioning our existing client base to a 24hr remote technical support service based around OvrC, staffed by experienced Control4 engineers in the US. Anything that the remote team can’t deal remotely is de-escalated where possible and passed to us to investigate, so for 1 week in every month you’ll be responsible for ‘out of hours’ service 8am-8pm, shared with the rest of the team. This 2 tier system reduces the ‘around the clock’ burden on our technical staff, whilst giving our clients the very best level of support possible. I don’t need to list all the technical things we need you to do… if you’ve got the experience you’ll know what it’s all about.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is based on experience, but in the region of £30-£45k. We hold annual reviews so as long as you’re doing the business there’s plenty of room to grow.
Friday Afternoon Off!! We work Monday-Thursday on site 8am-5pm. On Friday, we have a team meeting at our Experience Centre at 8am, then you get time to sort out your van, get the stock ready for next week and then you can go home at 12pm for an early weekend!
You’ll get a company credit card
You’ll get an iPhone (or, if you prefer to just carry one phone you can use yours and we’ll set you up with a VoiP app and the other work related apps we use)
You’ll get a decent laptop
31 days holiday
You’ll be enrolled in our company pension plan - we REALLY believe that you should be saving for your future from as young as you can be (Google ‘compound interest’), so whatever you decide to contribute to your pension over and above the statutory level, we’ll contribute an additional 50%!
We’re always happy to invest in the right tools, training and software to make your life easier.
