We have an opportunity for an experienced Internal Sales Person to join our team at Huddersfield on a full time, permanent basis.
Myers Building & Timber Supplies has 16 branches throughout Yorkshire and is part of the family-owned Myers Group. We are looking to recruit a motivated individual with a positive attitude to join our committed and experienced team supplying a whole range of building materials including kitchens and bathrooms. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful family business with strong links to the local community. The successful candidate must possess knowledge of roofing building materials and have sales experience of this product range.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the delivery of the MBS sales and margin targets whilst maintaining a value proposition for the customer
- Contribute to a proactive culture of H&S, ensuring everyone in the team complies with the Company HSE policies and procedures.
- Using the information systems provided, proactively identify and address
- Zero spending branch accounts
- Declining branch customers
- Declining categories
- Slow moving & dead stock
- Opportunities to increase basket spend e.g. upselling, impulse buys
- Opportunities to grow market share in new categories
Set a high standard of customer service within the branch, thereby sustaining customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Maintain direct relationships with key MBS branch accounts; liaise proactively with customers on a day to day basis to fulfil their requirements.
- Understand and solve customers’ problems
- Identify and address areas where service can be improved
- Apply various sales skills to capitalise on commercial opportunities through negotiation of prices.
- Pro-actively seek new business by targeting a combination of Myers Building & Timber Supplies existing customer base and prospective customers
- Ensure that the external and central sales teams are kept informed of any relevant customers/projects
- Provide support to sales effort by way of managing a portfolio of customers and undertaking customer visits where required
- Provide support to sales effort by working closely with external sales representative as primary point of contact for customer requirements
- Be involved with customer events when required
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by the Company from time to time, as instructed by or under the direction of your line manager
Skills and Attributes
- Roofing sales experience preferred
- Semi experienced trader, with a sales background who accepts responsibility and accountability
- A respectable level of understanding of the industry
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight schedules
- An ambitious person with aspirations to grow and develop
- Ability to work independently or within a team
- Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be self-motivated and have good interpersonal skills
- Must be self-driven, genuine with a positive attitude and clear focus
- Positive thinker with a 'can do' attitude who is customer focused
- A professional attitude and demeanour
- Ability to have ownership of a customer portfolio
- Possess a good standard of dress and be neatly presented
- Must be sufficiently mobile and flexible to achieve results
